I run into Niall when I walk into the hallway. “Oh, hey. Why did you leave the kitchen?” I ask him.

“Uhh, management called me.” He says, running a hand through his hair. “Well, what did they say?”

I ask. “They want to talk to me. About us.” He says, looking straight at me. “What do you mean,

about us?” I ask. “How would they even know?” “They saw a picture of us going into the restaurant.” He says, looking down.

“Ok, so what’s the big deal?” I ask. “Well, they want to know the ‘state of our relationship’.” he says,

using air quotes. “Ok, well what are you going to tell them?” I ask, biting my lip. “I’m going to tell

them that we just met and that we’re just friends.” He says plainly. “Ok…” I say, looking down at my

feet. I’m not sure how I feel about this. “Ava, what else am I supposed to do? I don’t need them

freaking out about us just yet. I’ll tell them soon, I promise.” He says.

“So are we dating or what, Niall?” I ask, bluntly. “I’m not sure.” He says, quietly. “I have to go, the

meetings in like a half hour.” “Ok.” I say. “I’ll see you in a couple hours.” He says. “Ok, bye.” I say, a

monotone look on my face. He leans in to kiss me on the cheek but then stops himself and ends

up awkwardly hugging me instead. I quickly turn away from him and start walking again. “What the

actual fuck. Did he really just semi break up with me because of what management said to him?” I

think to myself.

I turn another corner and see a room with the door cracked. I hear sniffling coming from inside. “Is

Liam crying??” I think to myself. I lightly knock on the door. “Don’t come in.” he says. I push the door

open and come in anyways. When I walk in, I see him sitting on the edge of his bed. He quickly tries

to wipes tears from his face, but it’s obvious that he’s been crying. “Oh my gosh! Liam, what’s

wrong?” I ask him.

“Nothing. I’m fine.” He says looking down. I quickly walk over and sit next to him on the bed. “Oh

gosh, you look horrible!” I say, taking in the sight of his red, puffy face. I quickly get up and walk into

his bathroom. I grab some toilet paper and a warm washcloth. I walk back over and return to my

seat next to him.

I grab the toilet paper and look him straight in the eyes as I wipe the tears off of his face. Then I take

the warm washcloth and blot his face with it to help with the redness. I’ve always been good at

making people feel better. I set the washcloth on his bed and place one hand on either side of his

face, using my thumbs to wipe stray tears away. He quickly turns his head, looking away from me.

“You don’t have to do this.” He says.

“Yes I do,” I say, turning his head to face me. “Liam, what’s wrong?” I ask quietly, looking him

straight in the eyes. “Nothing, I already told you it was nothing.” He says. “Liam I already know, so

you might as well talk to me about it.” I say. “Who told you?!” he asks, raising his voice. I place my

hand on his leg to calm him down. “Shhh, it doesn’t matter.” Is say, tracing circles on his leg.

He takes a deep breath and starts to speak: “I’m sorry I never said anything to you. I heard Niall

talking about you yesterday morning so I knew he liked you. When I saw this person he had been talking about I fell for you too. I just thought you were perfect, so gorgeous.” He says, looking

straight at me. I still haven’t said anything yet. “I know, it was stupid for me to even start liking you.”

He says, looking down.

“No it wasn’t.” I say, grabbing his hand. “You can’t help how you feel.” I say, looking away. “And I just

got over Danielle! I knew liking you would be risky.” He says, getting frustrated with himself. “It’s just

that being around you made me feel almost the same way I felt around her.” He says quietly. I look

straight at him, and it’s almost as if I can feel his pain. His eyes look back and forth between my

eyes.

Suddenly, he bursts into tears again, probably from thinking about his ex. It was breaking my heart

seeing him like this. I didn’t know what else to do but to hug him. I sit there hugging him as he sobs

for about 5 minutes. He finally starts to calm down, only quiet sniffles coming from him. He pulls

away and I take in the sight of my crewneck. It is covered and tears and some other things on one

shoulder.

“I’m sorry.” He says, looking at what I’m seeing. “You can grab a shirt from my dresser.” He says,

motioning to the front of his room. I walk over to his dresser and turn my back to him, pulling my

crewneck over my head and grabbing one from his drawer. I grab one that’s maroon colored and it

has the word ‘Brit’ on the front. “Thanks.” I say turning to face him. A huge grin spreads across his

face.

“What?” I ask. “I like that on you.” He says, still smiling. “Well, thanks. I’m happy to see that you’re

smiling.” I say. I go over to sit by him again. “I’m exhausted. I think I’m gonna take a nap.” He says.

“Ok, mind if I join you? I don’t really feel good.” I say. “Ok, yeah go ahead.” He says. I lay back at the

same time he does. I curl up next to him, wanting to do anything to make him feel better. Before I

know it, I’m fast asleep.

**A/N** ooohhh!!! liam and ava?? and niall's acting a bit weird too! what will management say? we'll have to see! ahha
