YOU HUMMED SOFTLY AS YOU WATCHED SASUKE AND NARUTO RUN UP THE TREE FOR THE 100TH TIME. Naruto had already asked for your help earlier, but seeing as you couldn't speak, it was much more difficult to explain it to him.

You were about to fall asleep when you heard an oddly familiar melodic sound nearby. You absentmindedly walked towards it, as if you were a puppet being controlled. Once you stopped, you took in your surroundings.

A beautiful stream of clear, blue water flowed steadily as small leaves dropped from the trees above. You couldn't help but marvel at the sight.

'How beautiful...'

You walked around silently for a few minutes before the sound of someone clearing their throat brought you out of your daze. Turning around quickly, you saw a person wearing a fox mask, their salmon colored hair shining brightly.

'Who... is that?' You thought, your guard raising as you stared at the mysterious person. 'I've had enough with people and masks'

"It seems we've finally met, little y/n" They spoke in a husky voice

"Who are you? And why-" You gasped.

The person chuckled, "Probably wondering how you can speak now, hm? Well, I can't disclose that information just yet. Though I can answer your first question," They then teleported behind you and gripped your shoulder, making you flinch

"My name is Sabito."

You slowly turned around to face him

"And what... do you want from me?" You asked hesitantly

"It's simple, really." He leaned towards the side of your face and whispered something into your ear. Your eyes widen as you stared at him in disbelief.

'No way...'

That night, you sat at the dinner table impassively, watching Naruto and Sasuke compete in a competition of who could eat the fastest. You had decided to leave the events that occurred earlier in the past. Besides, he wouldn't have lied to you,

You were brought out of your thoughts by Sakura's voice.

"Excuse me, this picture is torn, is there any reason for that?" She pointed to a small picture frame on the wall. "Inari, you kept glancing at it all through dinner. It looks like someone else was in the picture but they got torn out! It's kind of strange, isn't it?"

The room suddenly became tense, making you instantly feel worried for the family.

"It's my husband." Tsunami replied

"They used to call him a hero in this land" Tazuna added on

Inari, clearly sensitive about the topic, got out of his chair and ran out of the house. You couldn't help but sigh sadly as you watched him slam the door.

'Poor boy, this must really be serious for him since he gave that reaction'

"Well? What happened?" Sakura asked

Apparently, Kakashi was interested to because he asked his own question,

"Is there a story behind this?"

Tazuna then told the story of Inari's stepfather, Kaiza. He wasn't Inari's biological father, but they might as well have been seeing as they were so close.

The more Tazuna explained, the more you felt sadness for Inari. You listened intently as Tazuna then spoke about how Kaiza was murdered brutally by none other than Gato.

Your fists clenched at that part.

'That-that- despicable man!'

"Since then, Inari's changed. So did Tsunami, and all of our people. We lost our will." Tazuna finished. Naruto growled under his breath before standing up, albeit falling down.

"What are you doing down there Naruto?" Sakura asked

"I'm gonna prove it."

'Prove it?' You quirked a brow

"I'll prove that it's true! That in this world, there are real heroes!"

You blinked twice before smiling softly

'That's our Naruto.'
