Of the splotches of color
Over the city of Athens
Of the shades of reds and goldsAthens
With its vintage architecture
And bougainvillea eating up the faded walls
Of the vines growing in the cracks
Of peeling columns echoing with historyAthens
With its Greek temples under the sun
And the Parthenon
With the edges of its walls
Faded and crumbled
with timeAthens
With modern roads
And golden street lights
Next to historic masterpiecesAthens
With its marble arches
Over the sea
A sea both overhead and below
The sky as blue as the ocean
The ocean as green as the sky
