The snow is stuck to the ground as the students hurry around their dormitories, doing last minute packing for Christmas. Maria stumbles on Clarissa's hairbrush and the red head swears loudly at her but Danielle just rolls her eyes at the girls as she folds her robes into her trunk. Maria quickly slams her trunk shut and sits on top of it to stop it springing open as she clips it tightly shut.

"Phew." The Potter girl breathes as she stands up and also sits on Clarissa's as the red head struggles to close it before she clasps the buckle down firmly and it locks.

"Bloody trunk." Clarissa grumbles, kicking the trunk and it flies open, clothes hounding everywhere and the girls stare for a second.

"Shitting—well done!" Maria exclaims exasperatedly, groaning after and closing her eyes as her arms flip to her sides.
"I'm sorry!" Clarissa says, scrambling around and gathering her clothing before dropping the pike into the trunk.

As the girls help Clarissa pack, again, Maria finds her mind wondering to Regulus. How he'll be all alone at Christmas, no brother, no friends allowed round his house. Just him and his awful parents, she finds herself sighing as she clicks the trunk closed, all of them letting out loud sighs of relief when the trunk doesn't spring open yet again.

Meanwhile, Regulus Black sits on the bed that's covered with silk, emerald sheets, his trunk on the end of it as he sits with his elbows on his knees and his hands in his hair, leaning on them. His mind races with thoughts, pondering how this years amazing Christmas will play out. Either, he'll lock himself in his bedroom and won't come down at all, Kreacher bringing him cookies and drinks as he camps out in his bedroom pretending he doesn't exist. Or, they'll have the whole Black family around for a Christmas meal that he'll be forced to attend.

This year, he's hoping it's the first.

He can't deal with his dysfunctional, deranged family right now, or ever to be precise. The truth is, he'd actually rather stay at Hogwarts, but this is rarely an option for him as his parents always say it's improper to spend the holidays away from home, even though it's hardly a home there at all. In his fourth year, Regulus Black had never been happier when he received the letter informing him that his parents would be busy travelling in Germany to accompany him for the holidays, so he'd have to stay at the magical school.

Maria has never sounded like more of a luxury than right now to Regulus, he'd do anything to be able to spend a Christmas with her on the astronomy tower, looking over the grounds that are covered in a blanket of snow and for him to remind her of all the constellations above their heads. Maybe she's even read her favourite novel to him like she did once.
He'd found her one night, reading 'Romeo and Juliet', she proceeded to inform him that it's a very romantic book and that it's one of her favourites. Regulus had then deadpanned her by saying that it's hardly romantic that two stupid teenagers, stupidly died for each other, because of a stupid and plan that miserably failed.
