cxlv || calm before the storm
"When you said you had somewhere cool to go I didn't think you meant this cool." Maria breathes as she looks around her in amazement.
Regulus' lips tug into an amused smile at Maria's awestruck expression as she looks above and around them. The blue of the ocean reflects and draws patterns on their skin as they stand in the done, watching the fish and sea creatures swim by the glass.
"You're so easy to please, darling." Regulus chuckles as he watches her place a finger onto the glass gentle as an orange fish moves past. She shoots Regulus side glance before returning her attention to the sea creatures.
"Oh Reg! There's a crab." Maria says with a wide smile as she crouches before another tank and Regulus tried to nudge her over with his foot but she grasps onto his leg with a harsh glare in his direction. "Can we get a fish?"
"No."
"Why not?" Maria complains, peering into another tank with a small starfish attached to the glass.
"Because Tiger would eat it." Regulus deadpans and Maria thinks for a moment before shrugging her shoulders in defeat, knowing that Regulus is right.
The orange cat almost killed Peter when he and the boys decided it would be funny to show up in the garden of Maria and Regulus' cottage a few months ago in their animagus forms. The cat had chased Peter around the field three times before he was able to find enough time to hastily change back into his human self, breathless and in disbelief whilst Maria scolded the cat and James and Sirius had laughed at the blonde Pettigrew man.
"Do you think Mary's okay with Nova?" Maria asks worrisomely and Regulys sighs loudly, taking her hands into his with a pointed expression on his face making her groan quietly. "I know, I worry too much but. . ."
"You don't." Regulus frowns slightly, shaking his head and pressing a soft kiss to Maria's knuckles. "It's hard to relax nowadays as it is, and being a parent doesn't do much to help." Regulus chuckles. "You're doing amazing."
Maria smiles sheepishly, placing a soft kiss to his lips before turning back to the fish and smiling, still in awe.
"How do muggles come up with all this?" Maria breathes out, glancing up at her boyfriend who smiles in amusement and shrugs his left shoulder up. "We should bring Nova here."
"She'd love it." Regulus agrees, wrapping an arm around Maria and she leans into his side. "My brother wanted to take her in his bike on Halloween. I said no." Regulus assures her quickly after seeing her horrified expression.
"When she's older, she'd love that too." Maria chuckles, resting her head against his chest as they stare at the fish as they swim quickly past the glass.
