N.E.W.T's came and went like Christmas, Maria feeling moderately confident that she's done well — considering the nights she spent hours upon hours revising. She'd even forced Remus to meet with her every weekend in Hogsmead to help her with some things she didn't really get. Her and Regulus haven't spoken properly since they had fallen asleep beside each other and then had passionate sex whilst still confused about where they stood with one and other. She hates to admit that she can't live much longer without him in her life completely.

Stan's party had been cool, Maria had tried weed for the first time but after one joint Regulus had forced her to stop. She doesn't blame him, she saw what Stan was like after three and seriously considered thanking Regulus. Now, they're all convinced that Stanley Harper will probably need a new liver by the time he's twenty.

So, now, the students sit in the great hall on the very last day of the academic year, Maria sat at the Gryffindor table with the American girl she had spoken to a few times called Cassie.

Finishing their meals, Dumbledore steps up to his lectern and the golden owl spreads it's wings, "another year at Hogwarts over, I trust you are all excited for your summers. And I do expect to see you all back in September, as eager to learn as ever. Of course, however, today is a sad day for our seventh years leaving us." Dumbledore smiles sadly, looking around the hall before nodding at Maria who gives him a tight lipped smile. "I do wish you all the best of luck for your future years in the wizarding world. And I cannot express how much pride we feel seeing you go."

"But now, we must get into our famous house cup. So, in fourth place, we have Ravenclaw with 438 points." There's a ripple of clapping. "In third, Slytherin, with 536 points." Maria claps along with the rest of the hall. "And, it's close, but in second place: Gryffindor with 621 points. Leaving, first place to Hufflepuff with 630 points!"

The Hufflepuff table roars with applause, the other tables all applauding as well, it's hard for anyone to hate Hufflepuff.

"Now, that's done and dusted, I would like to wish you all a summer filled with joy; one where we can find moments to put this war behind us and see what the wizarding world is like without all the conflict and prejudice."

Maria smiles with a small sigh as they are dismissed, with just an hour before they're due to leave Hogsmead station. Maria walks through the familiar halls with tears prickling in the corners of her eyes. She really did it. They're now officially adults. Fending for themselves.

She peaks her head into the DADA classroom and sees Professor Rosemary packing up some books and the red headed women gasps in a bit of shock when Maria gently knocks on the open door.

"Maria, hello." Rosemary greets with a soft smile on her red tinted lips. "Is everything alright?"

"Oh, yes, of course." Maria says with a small smile and Rosemary looks at her with sympathy. "Just don't really want to have to leave yet."
