xxxiv||end of year exams

The end of year exams are approaching quickly, the seventh year's N.E.W.T's coming up in a few days and Maria has seen Lily and Remus doing nothing but studying, James, Sirius and Peter have been planning the big prank. The marauders have always done an end of year prank that's much bigger than their others throughout the year, but this year apparently they're planning something even bigger because it's their last year and they can't get three weeks of detention if there's only one day left for them. The youngest Potter has seen them sneaking around and sitting in deprived seats at lunch and darker corners in the common room, whispering urgently to each other and occasionally, Peter would take down some notes. James would sometimes clap his hands in excitement and Sirius would high five him loudly, making people look over, resulting in the three boys to instantly go back to their serious mumbling.

Maria finds the whole thing quite amusing, especially when she'd gone over to ask what they were doing and James had rudely shouted 'go away Maria' and snatched some parchment from Peter to hide in up his shirt. Maria had rolled her eyes and told Peter and Sirius that Remus wanted them to go to the library like he asked every day, but the boys had shook their heads no and Maria had been dragged along once again with the werewolf.

"You know, you've read that book like three times in two hours." Maria states, engulfed in boredom after spending another three hours in the rather packed library with Remus Lupin and Lily Evans. There are a few first years scurrying around, terrified about their first exams and many seventh and fifth years who are doing the most important exams — O.W.L's and N.E.W.T's. At her statement though, Remus rolls his eyes and Lily sighs in a way that Maria knows she's about to be lectured by her brother's girlfriend.

"I honestly don't understand why you don't want to study too, Maria, your end of year exams are just as important as everyone else's." Lily sighs like a big sister would say to her immature younger one. "These exams will affect our entire life once we step out of the castle for the last time and if we don't do well we won't get a good job which means you won't get paid any money and—"

"Lily, I do know how life works." Maria says after cutting the red head off. "Besides, me and Regulus have been studying."
Remus coughs loudly but in sounds quite a lot like "snogging." Maria glares at the messy haired boy who just gives her a look that reads 'you know it's true'.

"We didn't snog the whole time." Maria rolls her eyes and Lily raises an eyebrow. "Maybe we did—but that's not the point! He said he'd meet us here."

"Us?"

"Yeah, you've got to give him a chance, Rem." Maria sighs. "I can guarantee you'll be surprised."
A few moments later, Regulus Black walks into the library, his hair tousled and fluffy like he'd just showered, wearing a Slytherin quidditch jumper and some jeans, his books tucked into his arm and Maria noticed her ring on his middle finger like it always is. Maria knows he's just had quidditch practice but it's still a shock to see him looking so inhumanly gorgeous when she's trying to focus on her studying.
When Regulus catches her chocolate eyes staring at him, the corner of his lips twitch slightly.
