"It seems that my loving little girl was taken indefinitely. I'll get her back, sooner or later. She had no idea that power she held. I just wonder why Lila doesn't have the same powers- they were born on the same day,"-The Handler

Zero's POV

I left the Handler's office, very shocked. My head was hurting for the first time since I got here. The Handler was clearly trying to drain my power as I could hear everyone's thoughts again. Five told me to not believe her lies, but I don't think she was lying. I...just didn't know what to do. Five would obviously tell me to go with him and the Handler would obviously tell me to stay with her. I groaned; this was not an easy decision. I finally found Five in the hallway. He was hiding behind a corner.

"Hey, Fiv-" I started to say before he pushed me beside him and pressed a finger to my lips.

"I'm sneaking around, Syd." He peeked around the corner seeing Dot. He was too busy to notice my pain.

Dot handed Gloria a container and told her, "Gloria, the Handler knows that Five is up to something." Five grabbed my waist and spatial jumped us into the tube room.

"Get this to Hazel and Cha-Cha immediately."

Gloria stumbled over her words and muttered out, "Um."

Dot repeated herself, "Immediately."

"Okay, yeah." Gloria moved herself to the tubes. Five gave me a wink, which I assumed meant to hold on to him. He spatial jumped us behind her. Five then, hit her head hard, causing Gloria to fall unconscious on the floor. I gulped- why did Five have to act so hot all the time?

He quickly grabbed the container from her and pocketed the message out. The message was for Hazel and Cha-Cha to protect some guy named Harold Jenkins. He and I both frantically looked around to make sure no one was there. He placed a new parchment inside the typewriter and began to type. He secured it in place and slid the cover across. Using this commission paper, he typed out two parchments- one to Hazel to eliminate Cha-Cha, and one to Cha-Cha to eliminate Hazel. We then quickly rolled them up into containers and placed them into different hydraulic tubes. The tubes whooshed away with a sigh of relief from me.

"You know that's not how we do things here," The Handler growled with her hands placed together properly, "Where's Gloria?"

Five leaned against the tube claiming, "Don't know. We couldn't find her anywhere." He shrugged.

Gloria then groaned over on the floor causing the Handler's attention to switch to Gloria. Five and I backed away- trying to come up with plans to get out of this situation. The Handler locked eyes with me and made her mind busy. I winced with the new blood that shed from my ears.

The Handler was upset, "You're a great disappointment to me. You can't change what's to come, Five. I truly find it so odd that you can't shed this fantasy. You're a first rate pragmatist. You belong here with us. Sydney belongs here with us."

Five's lips pursed and his eyes twitched, "I don't belong anywhere, thanks to you. And you honestly believe Sydney is going to stay here with a monster like you? You made me a killer. You made her a killer." I felt my eyes brim with tears- it was in my birthright to kill.

"You were always a killer. I just pointed you in a direction." The Handler grabbed a gun from beneath her dress and aimed at us. Five grabbed my arm and whooshed us away.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck," I swore.

"Syd? Are you okay?"

I tried to lock eyes with Five but my mind was racing, "S-She...h-her mind i-is too no-noisy. I-It hurts."

He held a frown, "Just hold onto me." I nodded.

The PA system spoke, "Security breach in tube room. Security to the tube room.

Five and I hid behind one of the many hydraulic tubes. I heard the Handler's heels clicking against the floor. Five then shoved a cart into her, which moved her aim away from us.

"What's the rush, Five? Trying to keep Sydney away from her mother?"

Five looked at me shockingly and gasped quietly, "She's your...mother?"

"I-I d-don't know, I just found out like an hour ago. But, that's not important now. My head is exceeding past the normal pain limits."

Five shook his head, "Yes, it's important. She's going to kill me for dating you."

"She's going to kill you for other things, Fivey."

"We're just getting started," The Handler exclaimed. The Handler aimed her gun from side to side, "Is this how you want your last line in your report to read?"

Five jumped us in front of her. I held my knife in my hand and Five laughed, "When I'm done, I'm done, I guess."

"You can't keep this up, Five. We both know even you and Syd have limits. I mean, look at her. I saved you from a lifetime of being alone. You owe me." The Handler clicked her gun- no bullets came out. Five gave her a devilish smirk. Ooh, that sneaky guy.

"I do owe a debt," Five began. He whooshed away and ended up behind her, "But not to you." He held up a grenade and shook in in his hands, still holding his smirk. Five threw it and tried to jump us away but couldn't.

"Shit," Five said, "I don't have enough energy for both of us. And, you'll die if you take us."

I looked around, "Go without me."

"What?" He yelled.

"You can't take me with you. I'm fine with staying here. It's too dangerous for you. We all have to make sacrifices to save the world."

Five's eyes were watery and he shook his head very nervously, "No, please, Syd. You said you'd never leave me!"

"It's not forever. I'll find you again."

"Promise?"

I smiled through teary eyes, "Promise." Five gave me a long kiss on the lips and held me for as long as he could. He then whooshed away and I collapsed onto the ground. The last thing I saw was the Handler picking up the grenade and throwing it away from her.

"Oh, Sydney. You have made a brave mistake. You're going to regret not staying with me. I'll make your life miserable. You were a waste of commission material...and all because of that Five Hargreeves."

Spots appeared in my vision as the Handler reached into my hand and grabbed my knife.

"Let's start with something now, sure?" She stabbed the knife in my stomach and I screamed.

"Please, please. It hurts."

She laughed, "It will only begin to hurt. Just wait. I'll make you pay for your crimes, and Five's."

I fell unconscious with more pain than I ever thought was imaginable.
