<because we are a problem for this system...

if we let demons drink our blood, they will no longer have to eat human flesh and at that point the farms will be useless. The government would not be able to control us. Also....
We have already tried to help an entire village with our blood, but they were all executed and killed because they were considered dangerous...>

The nephew clenched his fists
<we're forced to hide and run away constantly, masking our true nature!>

Emma put a hand on his shoulder.
<soon you will be free. I want to change this world by making a new promise with the supreme demon.>

<a new promise..?>

Emma smiled
<yeah. That's why we came here. To look for a temple and golden water. But we couldn't find them anywhere in the village...>

The elder demon chuckled
<that's because they're not in the village. >

Emma turned her head to the side in confusion
<what do you mean?>

The demon got up and walked towards a door on the opposite side of the room and with a wave of his hand invited the four to follow him.

They walked through the dark house, making their way with lanterns, until the old demon stopped in front of a room door.
He turned the handle and walked towards the center of the room followed by the others, moving a carpet and revealing a trap door.
<open it> he said

Ray raised the trap door, revealing a large underground tunnel, consisting of a spiral staircase, which communicated directly with a corridor dug underground.
<what is this?> he asked

<it's a corridor> said the old man starting slowly down the stairs

Ray facepalmed while Don chuckled.
<yeah....I mean....where does it lead?> He asked again.

<to the place you were looking for. You were right, the temple you're looking for was in the demon village, but not on the surface. It was built underground and just a few people know of its existence.
Some people consider it a legend, a place that only great heroes can reach, but they're all lies invented in order to protect it.>.

As they were walking, Gilda grabbed   Don's hand.
<Are you scared? Don't worry I'll protect you, princess> he said boasting a little

Ray and Emma preceded the two and overheard the conversation. Both exchanged a look of complicity, thinking of a perfect joke.

<Don, watch out! A scorpion!> Ray shouted attracting his friend's attention and pointing to the ground

Don jumped screaming, hiding behind Gilda's back
<WHAT? WHERE?! O MY GOD KILL THAT THING, RAY!>

Gilda crossed her arms across her chest and took a deep breath.
<really, Don. really....>

Emma and Ray burst out laughing as they passed the couple and walked behind the old man.

They walked for a couple of minutes until they arrived to a large and majestic temple with countless stairways leading to it.
<WOAH. IT'S SO BIG!> Said Emma.

<there are several paintings describing how the promise happens> said the old demon as they entered the temple.
He tries to describe each painting in detail but one in particular caught Emma's attention

<why is this all black here?>

<it represents the unknown. Only a few people manage to return after making the promise. Once they entered that place, many got lost, others disappeared, still others managed to return but no longer remember anything.
No one knows what's in that world.>

<Wait. Are you saying that there is a risk that once you enter there is no way back?!> Asks Don

<anything can happen in that world. The only sure thing is once you enter, everything that happens next will be the consequence of the kind of promise you want to get and the kind of reward the supreme demon would want in return.>

<What?!> Don and Gilda shouted

Ray took a step forward, with a plan in mind
<Emma and I will g->

But Don cut him off
<no dude! It's too risky! We're coming with you!>

<could you let me finish?
We'll be back. Whatever it takes, I'll bring that monkey here, but you can't come with us. If in the worst case we fail to return, you could come and save us. In this way we would not all be trapped in that world.>

<you're right...> Don said putting a finger under his chin.

<well ... I'm the smart one here...> Ray said teasing him

<and I'm the "the most awesome in the world" here ...> Don said in return.

<Emma ... please come back ... you two are a point of reference for all of us. We can't lose you...> said Gilda approaching Emma

Emma hugged her.
<it's okay, little sister. We can do it. We'll find a way to go back. Besides, we are Grace Field's cattle children. We were able to escape from the orphanage, survive in the middle of a forest of demons and free the children of Goldy Pond.
We'll find a way to overcome this problem too. Don't worry.>

Ray walked over and wrapped his arm around Emma's shoulders
<don't worry. I will never leave her alone. I'll take her home safe and sound.>

Gilda looked at him, putting one hand on her hips and with the other pointed at the boy as a sign of threat.
<you have to come back home too. You both have to come back! Or I swear you will pay the consequences....>

Ray swallowed and nodded along with Emma.

<yeah. Plus your croissants are pure poetry, Ray. Just the thought ... of having to wake up in the morning and not being able to have breakfast with those sweets .... and creamy croissants ... my heart ...>
Don said touching his chest mimicking a dull pain.

Gilda turned and gave him a murderous look

<you better do as she says, dude. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes taking Gilda's killing wrath when she's angry.> Don whispered to Ray,

The elder demon chuckled at that scene
<so. If you want to make the promise what you need is golden water. You can find it in that fountain over there.> He said, pointing to a giant fountain from which golden water was pouring.

Emma walked over to it, but when she reached out to touch the water, she noticed that her hand was not wet. She was amazed and smiled at that new and incredible discovery. It was just like the golden water she found with Lucas at Goldy Pond.

"If Phil saw this golden water, he would have a big smile and red cheeks with amazement, while Norman would stare at it for hours trying to find a possible physical explanation" she thought, giggling.

"Phil ... Norman ... I wish you could see it too .... I'll change this world. I'll make our dream come true"

Emma took two containers from her backpack and filled them with some golden water. When she put them back in her backpack she walked over to the group.

The old demon continued with his explanation.
<after taking the golden water you will have to wait for a full moon night, pick up a gupna, and pour a drop of your blood into the golden water. By doing so you will arrive at the door to the unknown.>

Ray nodded
<thank you for everything you done for us and .... sorry if I doubted you. Please forgive me>

The demon put a hand on Ray's head and smiled
<it's okay, little boy.>

Gilda cleared her throat and attracted everyone's attention
<well guys. Now that we have found the temple and the golden water we have to walk towards the shelter. We have a world to save!>
