Being an artist sucked. Especially when rent came around. I had ways of dealing with it though. Not very appropriate ways of dealing with it however. At least it was more subtle than those colorful crooks that were plastered all over the news.

I sighed as the alarms blared at the bank. I hadn't even done anything yet so that meant someone else had. I spun in my chair away from the desk and the banker I had been speaking to. Of course it was the aforementioned brightly dressed crooks.

"Everyone down on the ground!" Electricity cracked as the rat dressed yellow spoke. There were screams from the crowd and people dropped to the floor.

"Great! Competition." I propped my head on my hand and leaned back in the chair.

"Do as he says and you might live to see another day!" The Liquidator said to the room.

One of the two ducks in the group ran towards the vault which was on my left and only appeared to be open. It actually had a thick layer of bullet proof plexiglass covering the entrance. I think his name was Bushroot lifted his hands. Small vines sprouted from his hand towards the small air holes and released pollen into the vault. It started eating the polycarbonate.

The other duck started laughing and dropped a handful of toy teeth on the floor. They scurried around on tiny mechanical legs chopping about every fifth step. I pulled my feet into the chair.

"And they seem to have a flare for the dramatics," I mumbled, watching one set of teeth jump past me.

"What was that?" Megavolt's attention was on me.

I looked up to see his newest weapon pointed at me. Would it sting? Yes. Was it lethal? No. These four didn't kill, if they could help it. I knew that much and that kept them off my radar for the most part.

"I said you're dramatic." He hadn't expected that answer.

"Well, excuse me. If our robbery gets in the way of your," he glanced at the desk to see what I might've been doing but frowned when he couldn't tell, "whatever it was you were doing."

I rolled my eyes again and reached into my pocket and Megavolt shoved the gun further into my face.

"Geeze, I see the gun. I'm not stupid. It's just a piece of paper." I pulled my hand out of my pocket and offered it to him. He took it and opened it skeptically.

"You are robbing the place?" His eyes cut back to me. "With a ransom note?"

"Clearly not anymore and you have no room to judge. I've been here twenty minutes and the alarms hadn't gone off. You were here, what, twenty seconds."

"We're in!" Bushroot yelled and started packing bags with money. Quakerjack bounced over to him.

"But clearly we were more effective." He smirked, lowering the gun only slightly.

"I am the terror that flaps in the night! I'm the check that bounces! I'm Darkwing Duck!" DW swung into the building, knocking Megavolt off his feet.

"Clearly," I mumbled to the villain, who was rubbing his head. Then I turned to smile at the hero, "Thank you, sir!"

"Of course, ma'am." He tipped his hat and launched himself toward Liquidator.

Bushroot wrapped his vine arms around Darkwing, pinning his arms to his body. I looked down at the wind-up teeth toy beside me. I picked them up and threw them at the villains arms. They bit him and, with a yelp, he released the hero. DW spun and knocked him to the ground.

"You're helping him?" Megavolt asked once he regained awareness of the situation.

"Enemy of my enemy type situation," I shrugged.

Then I dodge a rogue explosive Jack that the crazy toy maker had thrown by rolling into the floor. I landed a little too close to a bag of money and loose coins for me not to take advantage of the situation. I stuffed the coins in my pockets and stuffed the bag into my backpack.

"Hey! That's not yours!" Quackerjack pouted and grabbed my arm.

"Let me go!" I kicked his chest. We both stumbled backwards.

Darkwing shot a net at him and he wiggled and ranted. The cops arrived and started loading the villains up into the car.

"What about the girl?" I heard one of the cops ask Darkwing, who had been taking pictures with people.

"Oh she was helping me."

I could feel them looking at me and it took everything not to start running. Instead I spun and gave a wave and a nice smile. I turned back around once they said hummed in begrudging approval.

I went to make a swift exit but made sure to swing by the cop car. I flipped Megavolt a coin through the open window.

"You were right, that was more effective." I stuck my tongue out at him, before walking away with more than enough then next month's rent.

Unfortunately, I had a feeling that my taunting was gonna come back to bite me. Oh well, that was next month's problem.
