(NOT EDITED)

The next day you woke up and your eyes felt much better, you could even open up your curtains and look outside at the over cast sky.

"Morning," mikasa walks into the room with a plate of food. "I grabbed you breakfast."

"Oh I appreciate it," you sit down and place the plate in your lap. It's eggs, bread, and sliced apple.

"Well Daniel told me to bring it up to you, he's the one who prepared it."

"Ah," you nod in understanding. "That was kind of him."

"I think he has a little crush on you," she smiles slightly.

"Well he's a little too young for me," you poke your fork at the eggs.

"What about Armin?" She leans back on her bed, staring up at the ceiling.

"What about him?" You freeze.

"Would you consider being with him?" She folds her arms over her stomach and pats her hand in a rhythmic pattern.

"I-" you choke on the bite of eggs in your mouth. "He's a good friend, I don't want to ruin that"

It's the partial truth... I really don't want to ruin what we have, but I'm also not going to admit to Mikasa that some part of me really can't shake the feelings I have for him. They're constant. Every time I'm near him, I feel free and happy like the world isn't in ruins around us. Like it's only us two.

"I see," she sits up. "I can relate to that."

"With Eren?" You speak lightly, not wanting to push any buttons.

"Yeah..."

"Is it hard to separate your feelings now that he's been doing all of these things?"

"No... my feelings are always the same, but I have to put humanity first. I-" she sighs longingly. "I just wish he would talk to me."

"Maybe he can't," you set your food on the nightstand since you want to give her your full attention.

"I thought about that... but I'm not sure anymore. He's... different," she frowns. "I hardly recognize him anymore."

"I'm sorry," your tone is sympathetic, because she truly does look hurt.

"It's okay," she shrugs her shoulders and stands up from the bed. "Sorry for bothering you with this."

"Not at all," you reassure her. "It's nice to talk to you..."

"I like it as well," she smiles. "We're leaving this afternoon by the way. Armins going to try and convince you to stay, just so you know."

"He is?"

"Yeah, he says you need to let your eyes heal some more, but you look fine to me," she opens the door and gives you one last smile before closing it behind her.

You finish off your breakfast and then cuddle into bed with a new book. You've been getting better at reading and you start to wonder if the reason you can understand words here in Paradis better than Marley, is because you might have been born here.

You know it's true, so you try to convince yourself to stop doubting. In your heart, you remember the small cabin you lived in with your mom and dad. The creek you'd play in. Even the way to the village bakery. Yet any time you try and dive deeper into your memories they become all hazy and unclear.

You finish two chapter by the time someone knocks on the door. You set your book aside and stand up, pulling the door open to reveal the boy you can't seem to stop thinking about.
