𝐄lla was woken out her deep slumber by loud commotion being heard from downstairs. She instantly grew confused and went to brush her teeth before she put her slides on went down the stairs to see what was the loud sound about.
As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she saw nothing in the living room, so she went to the kitchen and saw her grandfather grabbing pots and arranging a few things.
" Papa what you doin' up this early?" she asked rubbing her eyes as she felt the tiredness coming back to her.
" Girl it ain't even this early, you exaggerating " he rolled his eyes " It's like 8:30 am mami" he shook his head at his granddaughter's antics.
" Anyways, can i talk to you about something?" she asked—there's been a lot on Ella's plate lately and she knew that she needed her grandfather's precious advices.

" You know you always can" he nodded
" Well there's this friend of mine, actually not friend of mine, bestfriend" she corrected " And she ain't doing good, she stopped eating and don't care for herself since her brother passed away. I tried everything in me to help her and make her eat, but i feel that despite everything that i'm doin', she won't be better for herself. And now i left her and feel bad because i just up and left without no explanation what if her condition get worse papa? how i'm supposed to live knowing that i left my bestfriend to fend for herself alone" she ranted

" Look here mami" he started " Stop beating yourself up about it because what is done is done. You did handle the situation wrong i admit that, but you just helped this girl by leaving-
" You mean that I was the problem?" she asked frantically
" Girl let me finish my gahdamn sentence" he mugged her " Anyways, sometimes folks just need a click to understand what is really going on. That girl prolly wondered that since you left her she needed to be better for herself and for you! And i'm sure she did because ain't no need to be smart to see that shit" he shook his head

" Anyways, stop beating yourself up about it, at the end of the day you gotta think about you first cause if nobody does who would?" he asked
" Nobody" she mumbled looking down
" Exactly! nobody, you just looked out for yourself mami and nobody can blame you for that." he kissed her forehead " Now go call that girl since you're so worked up about the situation, i'm sure she's looking forward to hear your voice" he smiled

" You right" she nodded " Thank you papa" she embraced him in a hug.
" You know i always got you if you need help mami" he smiled
Ella smiled and ran up to her room before closing the door behind her. She looked at the time and saw that it was 9:30 am, she knew that Kafeyah must be up since she's always up early.
Ella sucked in a breath before clicking on Kafeyah's contact. It rung a few time before her soft voice could be heard
" Ella? are you okay" she asked almost immediately
" Yea i'm fine ma" she nodded " I-i just wanted to apologize for leaving you like that"she apologized
" It's okay, i understand. You were looking out for yourself and i'll never blame you for that. This also my fault, i wasn't trying like i should've"
This was what Ella loved the most about Kafeyah, she was mature. She accepted her wrongs and tried to work on them, she didn't ignored them.
" But how are you tho? have you tried to eat anything?" she asked
" Actually yes, i got help like i should've got before and now i'm slowly trying" she smiled
" That's great mama! i'm proud of you. Where you found help?"
" Well actually very fun fact" Kafeyah chuckled " Zymeir is the one helping me"
" Wait my Zymeir? bitch you got sum explanations ta' do" she exclaimed
" Yes your Zymeir and there aren't really any explanations, we just clicked" she shrugged
" Hm hm" she hummed " You better tell me everything when i get back"
" I got you baby, but when you coming back tho?" asked
" In a few months, prolly three" she shrugged " I just need a break from everything" she sighed
You don't need champagne You'd rather be held tight and maintained
" I feel you, just take your time and don't rush yourself. If you wanna stay longer that's fine, don't put pressure on you" she preached
" Thank you ma! but i should probably get going before my maw wakes up and curse me out" she chuckled
" Dont let me hold you back, take care of yourself I love you" she hung up
" Ain't even let me say i love you back" she shook her head.
Ella felt relieved, she felt as if a big weight been removed off her shoulders. She finally felt free. Which is something she haven't felt in a long time.
Things were slowly but surely coming together and she loved it. But she also knew that everything wasn't pink and peachy. Perfection doesn't exist but that somehow was her goal, she wanted to achieve perfection.
