"Hey there, girlfriend!" Mandy's cheery voice greeted her best friend.

"Hey, Mandy. How have you been?"

"I am nothing without you."

Amy smiled at her best friend's reply. She could tell Mandy was pouting.

"I miss my best friend" Mandy continued, making Amy feel a bit guilty.

"What about Jack?" She decided to ask.

"He is great, but... No one can take your place, you know that, right?"

"I'm sorry, Mandy." She finally apologized because she understands how Mandy is feeling. She feels the same way too, but it's too late to do anything about it.

"It's okay, I understand. I wouldn't be here either if Jack didn't decide to apply this year... I don't want him out of my sight." Her best friend replied, whispering the last part.

"I heard that, babe." Amy heard Jack say in the background.

"Oh my God, Mandy, he heard you!" She laughed.

"Don't pay any attention to him... He's lucky we're already living together, I would've kicked him out of my room already." Mandy said, earning a chuckle from her best friend.

Mandy and Jack aren't staying on campus. They rented a house quite close to their school because they don't want to live apart.

"So.. what is it like living with Jack?" Amy asked with a smile, preparing herself for an earful.

"Oh my gosh! He eats like, almost everytime..."

"But you like the fact that he's big"

"I know, but I have to go grocery shopping like every three days... He brings a bunch of friends over for drinks and video games, even during school nights.."

"You were attracted to him because he was open with everyone and could easily socialize with people."

"Right? But it gets me frustrated when I'm trying to read."

"Have you talked to him?"

"Uh huh"

"And?.."

"He says he's sorry, but that isn't all..."

'So predictable!' Amy thought to herself.

"He litters the house with his laundry and acts like he's done nothing wrong... To top it all, we both can't cook."

Amy couldn't help it, she burst out laughing.

"It's not funny" Mandy mumbled from the other end of the phone.

"I know. I'm sorry." Amy said, while trying to stifle her laughter.

"But..." She added, knowing her best friend wasn't done yet.

"But, I love him."

Just the words Amy was waiting for.

"You guys are hilarious!" Amy confessed.

This was typical of her best friend. She goes off complaining about Jack's behavior and ends it with the fact that she loves him.

"I love you too, babe." Jack joined in again.

Amy then heard sounds in the background, like they were kissing.

"Eww, guys I'm right here!" She decided to remind them, since they always get lost in each other whenever they are together.

"Sorry about that, Amy... Where were we?"

Amy could hear the excitement in Mandy's voice. She rolled her eyes at their antics. They were a weird, but sweet couple.

"You were declaring your love for Jack." Amy drily replied.

"Right. Because he's so loving and sweet, he hired someone to do the chores and cooking."

"Then, why the grumbling?"

"Just wanted to let my lovely best friend in on what's been happening" she went on.

"What about you? Anything new?"

Amy bit her lips at that question. She was smiling to herself as her thoughts went back to the kiss she shared with Bryan just before he left. His kiss sent shivers down her spine, and at the same time it made her knees go weak. That was the kind of effect Bryan had on her.

"Hello? Are you still there?" Mandy's voice brought her back to reality.

"I confessed my feelings to him." Amy quietly replied, her smile not leaving her face. There was silence from the other end before she heard a gasp from her best friend.

"OMG! What did he say? Tell me, tell me, tell me!" Mandy exclaimed in surprise.

"He.." Amy dragged.

"Amy, please don't keep me in suspense."

"He said he loves me too." Amy finally replied. She took the phone away from her ear so she doesn't go deaf from her best friend's squeals.

"I can't believe it, Amy! I can tell you're in heaven right now."

"You know me well."

"Get ready, girlfriend cos you're in for some pampering."

"I know, right?"

"You make me jealous." Mandy said, faking a cry.

"C'mon, Mandy. Jack isn't that bad"

"Maybe... So, when are you going to break the news to your dad?"

"How do you know I haven't told my dad?"

"C'mon babe. You won't be sounding this excited if your dad already knows about you guys."

"You think so?"

"I know so."

Amy felt sad in that instant. Will her dad be that furious when he finds out? She wondered, as telling him about her relationship with Bryan was the only issue she had to deal with.

"We decided to wait a bit."

Mandy could hear the sadness in Amy's voice, making her feel bad for bringing up her dad. She decided to cheer up her best friend.

"Waiting isn't all that bad... At least, you don't get to end up with Kyle like I had wanted."

"Like he'll ever say anything." Amy chuckled in reply, feeling less upset.

When the time comes, she'll have no choice but to face her dad, she concluded within herself.

As if on cue, her dad knocked on her door.

"My angel. It's time for dinner." He said to her. He was still fully dressed, because he got back from the office not too long ago.

"I'll be down in a minute, dad." Amy replied, signalling him with her finger to please give her one minute.

Henry nodded and gently closed the door behind him.

"I have to go, Mandy. My dad just called me down for dinner." She then said to her best friend.

"Wait!... Don't leave me out on the juicy details in your relationship, okay?"

"I won't, I promise."

"It's settled then... I better go grab something to eat before Jack empties the kitchen."

"Wish you luck on that."

"I so need it, girlfriend. Bye."

"Bye." Amy replied with a fond smile and hung up.

She put her phone on charge and raced downstairs because honestly, she was starving.
