After lunch, Paula said goodbye to Chris, who wanted to go home and spend some time with their son, Carl. On reaching the hallway to Amy's room, Paula was surprised to find it empty. There was no sign of Henry or Bryan, making her wonder where they could've gone to all of a sudden. She then concluded that they probably decided to go have lunch somewhere else, as they both haven't tasted any food ever since the suicide incident. She opened the door to Amy's room and was shocked to her bones to find her daughter awake.

Paula immediately rushed to Amy's side, as she was struggling to sit up properly.

"Oh my baby, my baby. I can't believe it" Paula said between sobs while showering Amy's palm with kisses.

"I'm so sorry, honey... Mom is so sorry for not being there for you" she murmured apologetically, staring into her daughter's lifeless eyes.

Amy had no idea what her mom was talking about. She could only remember hearing Bryan's mesmerizing voice. He sounded really hurt and it broke her heart to hear the love of her life sounding so heartbroken.

Why was he sad? Why couldn't she comfort him? Why is she even in a hospital?

Amy racked her brain to get all these answers, but nothing was coming through. This caused her head to ache almost immediately.

"Baby, are you okay?" Paula worriedly asked when she noticed her daughter's sudden discomfort.

Amy couldn't answer her mom's question as she was having a flashback of the event that led to her current state of condition, after staring at her bandaged wrists.

'No, no. It can't be. She can't be alive'

Paula noticed Amy hyperventilating all of a sudden. She got frightened and quickly pressed on the emergency button to alert the doctors. Few minutes later, the doctor rushed into the room with two nurses. Paula was asked to leave the room, which she reluctantly did.

"What is going on?" Henry's alarmed voice asked a sobbing Paula.

"A- Amy"

"What happened to Amy?" He impatiently asked, scared that the worse had happened.

"Henry, please calm down. She's still in shock" Kyle, who was presently in the hallway tried to pacify an angry and agitated Henry.

He guided Paula to one of the seats and gave her a cup of coffee he bought on his way to the hospital, to help calm her nerves.

Paula took some deep breaths as instructed by Kyle and when she felt a bit calm, she narrated what had happened.

Just as she ended her narration, the nurses came out of the room, followed by the doctor.

"How is my daughter? Is she awake? Is she okay? Please, tell me she's still alive" Henry wasted no time in bombarding the doctor with these questions.

"I'll answer your questions one at a time" the doctor calmly replied.

"Miss Norman is out of coma and I can confidently say she's out of danger but, she's currently under sedation to help her feel calm and rest more... You have nothing to worry about"

"B- but what happened a while ago?" Paula asked, still worried about her daughter's well being.

"She came back to consciousness, but suddenly began to hyperventilate. In her case, it could've been triggered by some unpleasant memories... But like I said, she's out of danger. All she needs now is a proper rest"

They were all relieved after hearing the good news.

"I'll advice that you all go home and come back tomorrow morning, when Miss Norman must have woken up" the doctor concluded.

Henry and Paula initially declined as they were the only ones presently in the hospital since Henry and Kyle saw an exhausted looking Bryan leaving the hospital, but when Kyle assured them that he was going to stay behind, they eventually gave in.

Henry immediately called his best friend, to tell him the good news. Bryan was relieved and happy to know that Amy was alive and out of danger, but he didn't have the guts to face her, so he lied to his best friend that he wouldn't be able to make it to the hospital the next day because of an emergency at his company. Henry told him it was okay and That he'd send his love to Amy when he sees her.

Bryan thanked his best friend for his understanding and ended the call. He let out a deep sigh after the call, feeling horrible for lying to Henry.

"Forgive me, Amy, but it's better this way"
