Respect or Love

"Ah! Finally I can sleep." 

I went to sleep. Suddenly I sensed someone stroking my hair. I quickly opened my eyes. I was in middle of a garden, sleeping on lap of... Levi?

"What!?" 

I woke up in shock. Ah, it was a dream. A weird dream.

"I? With Levi? No chance" I told myself.

I checked my alarm clock. 5 o clock. I guess I should wake up.

I got up and did my daily chores as usual. At 8, we assembled at Dining Hall for breakfast. I met Armin, Jean, Connie, Sasha, Christa, Ymir, Reiner, Bertholdt. We were chit chatting as usual. Then Jean says, "Isn't funeral ceremony going to happen?"

Armin replies, "No. Since no body came back with us, there isn't any funeral ceremony today."

"No bodies? Levi's squad died, many soldiers lost their life while we were against that Female Titan. How can their be no body?" I enquired Armin.

"Because it was Levi's orders to drop the bodies" Armin replied.

"Oh my my, it would've been difficult for him." Sasha said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Hanji once told me Levi cared for Petra."

"Levi? Caring? Petra?" I asked in confusion.

"Damn silly, how would you know anything if you're always busy with Eren." Jean mocked.

Sasha started laughing while I hid my face with my scarf. "It isn't like that you Horse-face" I replied.

"Mikasa leave him be, Sasha continue." Connie said.

"Ya, so Hanji told Levi knew Petra liked him. Not only he, everyone who knew both understood this. Including Oluo.

Do you know Oluo liked Petra. That is why he used to act more like Levi."

Finally dots were reconnecting somehow.

"So Levi cared for Petra but he didn't showed as he feared he would lose her."

I get it. "Then why he ordered to drop their corpse."

"That's a very interesting question." Armin concluded.

Our breakfast was over so we left to do today's task.

It was my training time. I was in Training room. When my training finished. I went to cafeteria once for refreshments. I ordered Black Tea and sat on a nearby table. Near me were two soldiers who were in expedition with us.

"How are you feeling now?" Soldier 1 asked.

"A bit fine." Soldier 2 answered.

"That short heighted Levi! Why did he ordered you to drop the corpse of everyone." Soldier 1 grunted.

"You can't say like that about Levi!" Soldier 2 growled.

"Why are you angry on me? Because of him only your brother's corpse didn't come home." Soldier 1 countered.

"He ordered so so that  we stay alive." Soldier 2 begun.

My order arrived. I was listening their conversation.

"When we were coming back. Few Titans were chasing us. Their were many bodies which were slowing us.

In order to save us he ordered to drop them."

"As if that emotionless man would care about anyone else's sentiments. Have he lost someone close, he would have understood." Soldier 1 grunted.

"The look on his face didn't say so."

His face was expressionless and he ordered to drop the bodies, but he himself didn't want us to do so.

Petra's body was dropped too brother."

Soldier 2 was silent now.

"Petra's body? Too?" Soldier 1 was dumb now.

"Plus look what he gave me." Soldier 2 showed him a badge of Wings Of Freedom symbol.

"It was my brothers". Tears started rolling down his eyes.

Soldier 1 comforted him.

The way he was crying made me emotional as well. I quickly finished my tea and left.

I went to Infirmary to see Eren. He was  much better now.

I was happy I hugged him. Eren was complaining he can't breathe.

I let him go afterwards. Then I asked nurse about his discharge she said he may be discharged tomorrow. I was happy.

Suddenly yesterday's incidents clicked my mind.

I quickly left Infirmary and went to Levi's quarters. I don't know why I headed that way. I was searching for Captain Levi, the person whom I hate a lot since he kicked Eren in court. But now, I was searching for him to check whether he is good or not. Maybe out of respect which he earned suddenly. Or maybe. Nah. It can't be.
