Roman

(Y/N) POV

Roman was a tall and fair guy. He looked quite young but he seemed to know his way around.

"So what will I be doing?" I ask as he takes me somewhere

"Oh, it won't be much longer kiddo," he says as we approach a store

"Put this on," he says handing me a mask

"Why do I need this?" I ask confused

"Don't worry about it, just put it on. Your job is to read the clerk's mind. Tell me if he is hiding anything," he says as I nod and put the mask on.

Roman barges into the store and starts demanding all the Lien

I was confused, but I followed his orders

I looked into the clerk's eyes

I don't want to die...I'll only give him the stuff in the register, it's not much, we have way more in the back

"He is hiding money in the back," I tell Roman as he smirks

"Thanks, kid," he says as he turns around to another employee.

"Go to the back and give me all the money if you know what's good for ya," he demands as the clerks start sweating

I knew what we were doing was wrong, but it felt right. I look at these people...I see their inner demons.

The man handing Roman the money is cursing us out in his head. Calling us all sorts of names and yet on the outside, he is cowering in fear.

People are always like this...but not Neo. Her expressions match her thoughts perfectly.

The person emerges from the back

I hope this is enough to trick him...we can't give him all the money in the back

"There's more," I mutter as Roman looks at the worker

"I told you to give me all of it!" He yells as he knocks the employee over the hand with his cane. I recoil for a bit, but Roman demands that another worker gets the rest of it.

They finally follow his orders and go grab all of it

Our manager is going to kill us...we lost all the money

Roman grabbed the cash from the worker and we left.

We ran through a few dark alleys and we eventually stopped and started walking normally as we took our masks off.

"I made 10x more money than I would have without you," Roman says excitedly

"But that was stealing!" I say as he laughs

"I forgot you're a kid, it's not stealing...its...umm... it's....borrowing, I invest this money and then give it back to them," he says with a sly smirk

Yes, it's just stealing. I don't know what I'm saying to this kid

"You can't lie to me," I say as he covers his mouth.

"Right...Mind Reader," he says out loud

"Either way, folk like you and me need that money more than they do," he says as I just nod

"You can head home, I'll tell the construction crew that you'll be working with me from now on," he says as I nod

"Ok," I say as he remembers something

"Your pay!" He says as he hands me a quarter of the amount of money we stole

"Is this all mine," I ask as he nods

"Yep, treat yourself to a tasty meal," he says disappearing into the darkness

I look at the money and realize it's valued more than what I and Neo have ever had at once...by about 5x the amount.

Wow, with this Neo doesn't have to work...

Wait...with this

Neo can actually go to school!

Just thinking about it made me happy.

I have to tell her about this

I rush home to be greeted with an empty house...oh yea I forgot she doesn't stop working until later.

I find something to do as I wait for her.

Finally, the door opened and I saw her walk-in

I instantly went up to her and hugged her in glee

"I did it, I did it!" I say excitedly as I twirl her around

When I set her down she seemed confused

"I ran into the jackpot!" I say as I show her the money. Her eyes widen as she realizes the amount

How'd you get this much!

"I just started working for this guy I met," I tell her as she smiles

Wow it's so much

"I know right! Anyway, with this much...I figure you don't need to work anymore...and with that, I was thinking you could go to school," I tell her as her eyes light up

Do you really mean it!

"Yea of course," I say

Where can I go?

"Well, it depends, if you want to become a Huntress then Signal...but for everything else just a normal school," I say as she thinks

Signal...I want to be someone who protects people like you did with me

Her face looked so determined as I smile.

"Yea, like me," I say as I remember what I did today. I didn't feel much remorse...I felt like stealing that money brought more good than it rotting away in the place it was.

"Ok, I'll sign you up tomorrow," I say as she smiles

Thank you!

She hugs me as I hug back

"Yea, No problem," I say as I hug her back

The next day, I signed her up to attend school. And she started going the next week.

She was happy so I was happy. As she went to school, I worked with Roman.

But After 7 years that changed.

In those 7 years, not much changed. Me and Neo only got closer, nowadays I couldn't imagine living without her. I was shocked when I learned she wanted to go to Beacon...but I accepted it fully and sent her on her way.

Alongside my friendship with Neo, Roman and I also got closer. We were truly partners in crime.

He taught me some fighting moves and how to harness my Aura.

But one night, when raiding a dust store...things went south
