God. Okay.

Between using quarantine as an excuse to further educate myself in the different fandoms out there, and being completely obsessed with Sanders Sides, it should come as to absolutely no surprise that I've lost all sense of self-control. These are AUs that I don't plan on writing (mostly because I'm 99% sure that Tas would have my head), but I like the idea, so I'm putting them out there in the hopes that a writer will scoop one of them up and make it way better.

Let's get started. *cracks knuckles*

The Night Vale AU

The premise

It's Welcome To Night Vale, but with Dukeceit. Love this podcast, love the Cecilios ship, love everything about it... and there's almost no AUs involving Sanders Sides out there. So this is my proposed model (of course, you don't need to follow it, but still). Warning: there will be spoilers for those of you who haven't listened very far.

What the characters are like

Janus: Takes on the role of Cecil, because they are incredibly similar---when you first meet them, they both seem slick, suave, professional, and That Bitch, but as you get to know them, you realize that they are complete and total dorks. Janus certainly has a much better fashion sense than Cecil (I know every cosplayer and fanartist portrays him as a dapper gentleman, but he wore a tunic and furry pants on his first date and that's the least ridiculous outfit he's described as wearing), but still. And really, Janus would make an awesome radio host, and he would totally gush about his crush when he's supposed to be narrating important events.

Remus: Takes on the role of Carlos---mostly because I love Dukeceit and Cecilos, and also because he and Carlos... well, they're both kind of disasters, in the best way possible. Plus, I do like portraying Remus as a confused dork, even if it's not that canonically accurate. It---it works, in its own weird way.

Virgil: I wanted him to be an intern, but I debated whether or not I should make him Dana or Maureen. Because I did want to give him a bigger role, and I also wanted to add in my BroTP (Virgil and Janus) he ended up being Dana, and it does actually suit him. He's not afraid to take charge every now and then, but he'd definitely turn to eating dirt when he's nervous. He's a good intern, and a good mayor. And he and Remus are probably the only two people who can put up with Janus's BS.

Roman: Couldn't really settle on it for a bit---there's a lot of characters he could be. I considered making him Earl Harlan, or Old Woman Josie, or even Lauren, but since I loooove making him and Janus have petty rivalries, I ended up making him Steve Carlsberg. It's just fun having Roman be a sweetheart (because Steve is actually a total sweetheart of a person who's just got a lot of conspiracy theories), and his imagination is definitely big enough to be able to see how the world is. He's also a good dad. And... uh... speaking of which...

Patton: Takes on the role of... *regretful sigh* Kevin. I'm sorry. I don't like going for unsympathetic Patton, since I think it's super out of character and ignores the fact that he genuinely wants to do the right thing and he's trying to work through his mistakes, but once you make Janus Cecil, there's just no going back. Plus, as much as it pains me to say this---Kevin is unfortunately the best role for Patton. If you're making the Dark Sides Cecil and Carlos, you may as well go the extra step. And admittedly, it is really fun taking Patton's "stay on the positive side" thing and twisting it to... well. Strexcorp level.

Logan: Takes on the role of Tamika Flynn---also, yeah, Dukeceit is the only one of my three main ships included in this AU. Anyways, I debated this for a while, but Tamika is actually perfect for him. He's definitely badass enough to take down a librarian and form a teen militia, he loves reading and is proud of it, and really? It's just incredibly fitting.
