Gushing about WTIT

So, yesterday, I was already on cloud 9 due to the newest episode of The Owl House and everything that happened in that (it was a HOOTY EPISODE and there was SO MUCH stuff revealed and so much HAPPENED and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT), but when I saw that the new Asides dropped, I nearly threw my computer across the room in excitement.

AND IT DELIVERED

IT FUCKING DELIVERED

So I am just going to gush about the entire thing while I wait for Tas to get back to civilization so we can gush together (she loves Remus so I have a feeling she'll like this one). Warning: there will, of course, be spoilers ahead, so if you haven't watched it, ignore this until you have.

LET US BEGIN!

All right, let's start with the major thing---which is, of course, Logan's eyes turning orange when he got super mad.

AUGUSTUS MIGHT BE CANON, GUYS! He may have a different name, or design, or whatever, but Orange is Wrath and that means I could potentially have Gusty be a canon character! I knew deep down in my heart that it was a mistake to get so attached to him that I've put him in one of my biggest projects and am giving him an in-depth character arc, when he may not even be canon, but now I have near-concrete proof!

Seriously, though, I am so hyped and so scared for Orange. I still don't think that he and Logan are one and the same, but if he's able to do that and we haven't even seen his face yet... the next episode is gonna be a wild ride. (Also, if I could draw, I would absolutely draw canonverse!Augustus with those glowing eyes. Or S.I.D.E!Augustus. Whichever.)

As hyped as I am for Orange, though, I'm also superduper thankful that we're getting a character arc for Logan. I really want to see where this goes, and hopefully, it'll end with everyone (including Thomas) listening to him more. I would love to see a situation where Logan ducks out because he's not being listened to, and that gives Orange an opportunity to step in. Plus, everyone is mad at everyone now (with the exception of Prinxiety, which is still going strong, and Remus just seems to be having a grand old time), which could definitely prompt an episode about keeping your anger in check but also how it's unhealthy to bottle it up. The angst would be great, the reveal potential could be great... and I just need an episode that talks about that because damn do I need it.

ALSO SEEING NICO IRL AND NOT ANIMATED WAS AMAZING. Seriously. The man is insanely adorable, even when he's in a Remus-made hallucination with Spinel eye makeup and a knife. His hair looks like the fluffiest thing on Earth. I know that most fanartists are going buck wild over orange-eyed Logan, but... I really need more Nico fanart. He's a good boy and I love him.

And there was so. Much. Remus. Lemme rattle off some stuff I adored:

He's REALLY FUCKING CLEVER and goes into the time to make Rube Goldberg machines just so he can scare Thomas. I had my doubts about him being a Slytherin before, but now, I definitely see it.

He tried to get Logan to do the "what's updog" thing, and while it was unexpected, it was so in character. (Also, shoutout to Logan for that "you couldn't turn on anything if you tried" burn. I'm definitely including that in S.I.D.E.)

He's allergic. To soap. Literally. What more could you expect from him.

EYE PATCH EYE PATCH EYE PATCH

That "brat worst" pun had me simultaneously groaning and cackling, which was absolutely the goal with that.

Unfortunately his blood is red and not blue so I guess his octopi traits don't go that deep. I'm still headcanoning that he's got three hearts.

HE WORE A DUNCE CAP I DIDN'T REALIZE I NEEDED THAT IN MY LIFE

Even the way he sits is dramatic. He just embodies pout. I love it.

He didn't eat deodorant once in this episode. I guess he was a little too busy for snacks, though.

Does anybody think that the reason he went so hard with that Nico scene is that he's scared about Thomas getting into a new relationship but won't admit it? No? Just me? Okay, I'll let you chew on that angst.

Again. Dunce cap.

I'll only ever ship Intrulogical as a crack ship/frenemies-with-benefits-thing, but I do appreciate the fuel that this episode gave the more serious shippers.

Seriously, though, I have so much inspo for the next chapter of S.I.D.E. I really needed more canon!Remus to work with, and I'm very happy that I got some.

With that all out of the way... the end card. The frigging end card.

This is the second episode where Janus and Remus have been in the same video, but not interacting. THOMAS I NEED CANONICAL DUKECEIT CONTENT PLEASE YOU'RE KILLING ME HERE

I loved the core four chatting while Nico and Thomas were on their date (and I think I know why Virgil's mad at Patton now), and all the little tensions between everyone was very fun to see. And that camera pan up to Janus in the tree... hoo boy.

First off---Janus, please stop looking so hot. You're making me question my status as an ace even more and it's really annoying. All jokes aside though, you looked great.

Second off, I love how that implies that while Janus may be accepted, he's far from being a part of the group---not with Prinxiety hating his guts. He's with them, but he's sitting a little ways up, not joining in on their conversation, and being a little bit ominous. The spookiness of his final line gives off villain vibes, but I really think it's a hidden warning---he knows that something big is about to happen, he knows that he's going to need to reveal Orange soon (and he's going to be a problem for everyone), and there's nothing really he can do about it, so enjoy the peace while it lasts.

Third off---he's a serpent. In a tree. Eating an apple.

I'm not saying that Crowley has competition, but Crowley has competition.

And that shot of the orange eyes had the sound of flames in the background. THE SOUND OF FLAMES.

In my mind, that pretty much confirms that he's got pyrokinesis... though, hopefully, he doesn't use it on anyone regularly.

In conclusion, that episode was absolutely perfect, and I loved it. And I need more of Logan drinking wine. I just need it.
