Chapter 16- Jealous

Shane asked me in the lift 'What did you two do?'

'Nothing.' I replied looking away from him.

'Fine don't tell me.' he said.

'Yes I wont.' I said.

'Is dad home?' I asked.

'No.' he replied.

'He is hardly home.' I said. He really isn't home a lot.

'That is why they decided to get together. Don't you know? Because the office was burdening them with too much work. They decided if they would move in together. We would give company to each other but you are too busy hanging out with drunk people.' He said.

'What the hell Shane?!!! Will you just stop calling Luke a drunk?' I asked him.

'I won't. That's who he is. You yourself can't deny that fact.' He said.

I moved away from him. I sat behind him on the bike. We reached home swiftly. I went to my room and tried to sleep but I can't. I am just thinking about Luke. I hear a notification ring. It's from Luke. It's four in the morning. What is he doing at this hour awake?

'Hey I am sorry about today. Maybe I said some stupid things too. Don't mind those. I am sorry if I shouted at you or did something wrong. I really want you as my friend. Please forgive me for today's incidents and forgot about all that.' He had texted me. How can I forget about him?!!!!!!! How the fuck can I man?!

'What are you doing awake at this hour?' I asked.

'I should ask you the same thing.' He replied instantly.

'Nothing I am just sleeping.' I texted. I am such a liar.

'I am out for a jog.' He wrote.

'Oh great. Why do you work so hard? Trying to impress someone?' I asked. This is so stupid!

'I don't know. I see all girls as my friend nothing more than that.' He wrote. God! What happened to the things you just blurted out yesterday?

'Haha LOL.' I wrote.

'Get some sleep. Bye.' He wrote. I threw my phone aside.

Maybe I am just thinking about this too much. Luke just sees me as a friend, Nothing more. The things he said yesterday...he might have said those because he was drunk. Its all my fault!! Why do I have to think about anything so much!!!

Taking Luke's advice I tried sleeping but I still can't! I cant stop thinking about him!! Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should better study. I take out my books to study. Someone knocked at my door. With the book in my hand I opened the door. Shane entered my room as I opened the door.

'You are studying?' he asked.

'Yes.' I replied.

'You okay? You look tired.' He said. I don't look tired.

'No I am not tired.' I replied.

'Look at your face in the mirror.' He said.

'Fine I will have some sleep.' I said angrily.

'Why are you so annoyed?' he asked.

'Shane I am really not in a mood to talk!!!!' I told him. He left the room quietly. I think I am tired. I sleep on the bed.

I slept for some time then it was time for school. Argh!!!! Can I just skip school today?!!! No I can't. I get dressed and walked downstairs sleepily. I left for school without having any breakfast. I reached school early. There were hardly any students. I stood quietly outside the school. Maybe Sia and Aiden will be here soon. Ten minutes passed even Shane isn't here. What the hell is he doing?

I saw someone approaching towards me. I don't think I have seen him before. I turn away.

'Hey.' I heard a voice. That voice is familiar. I faced the guy. His hazel green eyes looked at me kindly. Was it Luke?????????!!!!!!!! It can't be Luke!!

He has cut his hair. For some reason his face is glowing a lot. His dark circles are still there but they are lighter. His hazel green eyes are shining more now.

'Hey?!' he said again. His voice is so sweet.

'Hi. You look amazing.' I said.

'I don't look that good.' He said and turned red. I seriously cant stop looking at him.

'I didn't want people to say mean things to you because of me. I will try my best to be a good friend. I am sorry again for yesterday.' He said.

'Haha no problem.' I replied patting his shoulder. He gave me a small smile.

'I know I promised that I wont drink or smoke anymore but leaving a drug takes time.' He said slipping his hands inside his jeans pocket. Wait a minute?!!!! He remembers this! Then he also might remember that I saw him shirtless! Applied ointment on his bruises! And he said that he can't stop thinking about me! He must remember all this!

'I am willing to wait Luke.' I said. He looked at me lovingly. The way he looks at me. I just melt.

'I should probably go now.' Luke said and bade me goodbye. I didn't want him to go. I ran after him.

I held his hand and asked 'Are you free today evening?' he is taken aback by the way I held his hand.

'Yes I am.' He replied.

'We can go shopping together.' I made up. I think I have some money.

'See you then.' He said.

'I will come to pick you.' I said. I have to book a cab.

'So its set? Today at five?' he asked.

'Yeah.' I replied.

He gave me a warm smile and walked away.

The whole day I just kept on thinking about Luke. I did catch Shane staring at me thrice a day. He hardly talked to me. At lunch when I went to sit with him he walked away. Is he angry because I shouted at him in the morning?

As we were heading towards chemistry class I pulled him aside and asked 'Are you mad at me?'

'Why would I be mad at you?' he asked.

'Then why are you acting like this?' I hissed at him.

He removed my hand from his and pinned me against the wall.

'I am acting like this because you are still meeting up with Luke.' He said staring coldly into my eyes.

'Did you even see him today? He has changed! He hasn't completely stopped drinking!! It will take some time.' I told him angrily. He is always judging everyone!!

'He has changed so that he can get close to you.' Shane sighed. Close?! What the hell is he talking about?

'What? We are just friends! Just accept this fact Shane.' I said.

'Is it me or him?' he asked. He seriously is a kid!

'Are you serious?' I asked him.

'Yes.' He replied.

'it's no one.' I said. I cant choose. Literally I can't.

'I got it. You chose him.' He said.

'Are you jealous Shane?' I asked smirking.

'No. I still can't believe you chose him.' He said changing the topic.

'Gosh! Today we both are going shopping. Join us!' I said. 

He smiled happily and went away.
