"Jiminiee! Come on now tell me something atleast-"
"Areum!" He pulled me into a silent corridor, "I told you, 'Officer Park' not Jimin." He glared at me and started walking again. "AND SPECIALLY NOT JIMINIE!"
"Tch- okaie. Officer Park-" I bee lined behind him with my notepad, "Can you please give me something atleast? some- information about TMM- maybe?"
"No! Stop asking me about it! I told you, I cannot share that information. I don't want it up on broadcasting." He kept walking calmly with gestures to shoo me away.
I was done! I caught hold of his hand to make him stop, "You're the only friend I have at this station! If you won't help me, who will!?" I questioned, trying to act cute.
"Volume down! And firstly-" he eyed my hand which was gripping his wrist, "Stop flirting or I'll get you transferred to another station."
"WHAT!?" I pulled my hand away, "I'm not flirting!!"
"Then go away already. You're not getting info from me. Try pleasing the front desk." And with that, he walked away- signalling that he had a call to attend.
Why is he always like that!? Aren't friends supposed to help!? I walked back, stomping my foot loudly.
The extra weird inspector was sitting at the front desk. I'd rather get kicked out of my company than go to him- he just wouldn't stop asking me out! Even though he would give me information, it wouldn't be what I wanted.
I put my phone to my ear as I walked out of the saddest police headquarters, shoving my notes into my tote bag.
"Hey, Ayeong. Can you pick me from the station on your way?" I asked into the phone.
"Yeh- I'm driving already." She hung up before I could thank.
Ayeong is my closest friend. We even work at the same news telecasting company- NSK to be precise. Yeh, News South Korea. It was not exactly my dream job, but that was what I was good at- making people tell me the truth. Jimin was difficult though.
Ayeong's car stopped just an inch away from crushing my toe.
"Any luck today?" She asked, as I hung my head low and got into the passenger seat.
"Nah-hun. He just wouldn't budge. Please try stopping away from my feet so I can walk for the rest of my life too?" I said, sighing.
"I'll try. But he's been your friend for years too. Shouldn't he be helping!?" She asked, focusing on the road.
"Yeah, yeah- that friend who i didn't even contact in the last five years and suddenly remembered, hardly some six months back- expecting him to help me every day!-- But he says that TMM information is highly classified." My head hung even low.
"Areum, I'm not going to lie but with this situation- you are no where close to the P of promotion this year." She spat the truth.
"I know, I know." My head was probably on the foot rest by then.
Isn't life just too challenging sometimes? With one of those phases where all you have is work. Work and work and work. Just work. I was exactly in that phase.
Our company building was already nearing, so I pulled down the sun shield to look at myself in the tiny mirror that it held. I had a report to submit, which I still had no information about, atleast I could look presentable.
"Get out now. I'll go park." Ayeong barked the order. I snarled once, and got out of the seat.
Huh, the same old routine. I walked into the building, greeting everyone on my way with a professional silent bow.
