Jungkook's pov:
The previous day
"Jimin. You know what to do." I spoke into the phone. He just hmmed in response.
"And... make sure she gets to her house safely." I added.
"Uh-hah? Safely? You okay?" He asked suspiciously, rather, teasingly.
"Yeh, it's just- she has done nothing wrong." I firmly said. She was just doing what she was supposed to.
"Cool. I got to go now." And he hung up.
She was unconscious, lying on the dead leaves that laminated the ground, right in the middle of nowhere. I could see her, not moving an inch from how I laid her down.
"Jungkook, let's go. Jimin will handle it." Joon said, from the tree beside mine.
"You go ahead. I'll come." I replied.
He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Just- go. I'll come." I repeated.
He turned back and walked away, leaving me at peace. I had to make sure no one saw me, so I used the easiest hide out possible, the top of the tree I was standing behind. I could see everything clearly from up there. The team of reporters and Jimin's force were nearing us.
It was almost sunset when they finally got to her. Jimin could have made it quicker with all the co-ordinates he had received from me, but anyways. Within moments, they lifted her up and took her to the bus while she he was still unconscious.
I decided to follow. It was unexacting with all the chaos that was there. It was easy for me to mix up with a crowd, to disguise as someone else.
I took a seat in the silent corner of their bus, while a few people were gathered around her. Rest of them were unbothered by what was going on.
"Just call Ayeong." Someone suggested, and that was it. Everyone moved to their seats.
I had my eyes on her. Her lips moved a little, as if mumbling something. And then her eyebrows twitched. Was she already waking up, again?
I silently shifted to the seat next to where she was and sat there quietly, making sure that no one noticed the changes. They could not see who I actually was, for them I was just a police inspector who decided to ride along. Nope, she was still unconscious- but not fully. And that certainly wasn't right.
Her head bobbled from side to side and front and bumped back into the seat. It bothered me how her movement distracted me from concentrating on what others were talking. Now that I was there, I had to make sure that we weren't suspicious.
Her head hit my shoulder- causing me to flinch away. A few pairs of eyes darted our way. I shifted back in position and let her head rest on my shoulder. Atleast now I wouldn't be distracted.
"Ummhphmm" she mumbled some gibberish in her sleep. I'd never known what it was like to dream.
The bus finally came to a halt infront of the news broadcasting company they worked in. Everyone started getting off without even sparing her a glance.
"Where is she? Where is Areum?" Came in a girl, with water bottle in her hand.
She stumbled up to the third row where I was sitting beside her, and finally breathed out in relief. I lifted her face from my shoulder and lightly placed it on the window's glass.
"Could you please help me with taking her off the bus?" The girl probably named Ayeong asked.
I nodded my head and waited while she sprinkled water on her face to wake her up. It took a couple of splashes before her eyes fluttered and opened as she gasped.
