Chapter 81

"I can't believe Fives would try to assassinate the Chancellor." Anakin commented as I entered the room to the meeting.

"What's going on?" I questioned at the sight of Fives running out of a building over a hologram image.

"Fives returned this afternoon with Shakk Ti and Nala Se with the report on Tup" Anakin started.

"Fives has attempted to assassinate the Chancellor" Windu stepped in to explain the real problem at hand.

"What? That can't be right" I was shocked by the news.

"The Kaminoans feel a virus corrupted the Clone's inhibitor chip, which has led to this behavior. ARC Trooper Fives feels he is the victim of a plot, Separatist or otherwise." Shakk Ti explained the science behind it.

"All security and clone forces on Coruscant have been ordered to join the manhunt. The Chancellor has been moved to his Senate quarters and the perimeter has been secured. However, Jedi involvement has not been requested." Windu continued.

"That's a little odd, isn't it?" Anakin asked with suspicion.

"Hmm. Discover the truth we must." Yoda told us.

"If there is a plot involving the clones, we must get to the bottom of it. We will investigate quietly, undercover. We must make sure this clone is not killed." Mace spoke again.

"I'll handle this investigation. Fives was part of the 501st. If Rex and I find him, he'll trust us." Anakin promised. "Lyra will come along as well, she has been affected enough by this too and will know how to keep Fives calm" Anakin spoke on my behalf.

"Be wary. Since he removed his inhibitor chip, Fives may no longer be the man you once knew." Shakk Ti warned.

"We will take the risk" I told her, feeling odd about everything that had happened since Tup shot me.

"You must take extra caution with your recent injury"

"I will take care of her" Anakin promised the council of my safety.

"General Skywalker, Fives told me to give you this location and to meet him there" Kix commed Rex, Anakin and I as we went in search for the clone. "He also said to come alone, only with Rex."

"We are bringing General Jayko too," Anakin warned. "Thank you, Kix"

"Where to, Anakin?" I asked as he took control of our speeder and began to take us into the lower levels of the planet.

"Well, these are the coordinates Kix gave us." Anakin stated as he hopped out of the speeder onto a platform. "Let's hope Fives is inside."

"I hope he knows what he's doing." Rex sighs. We all entered carefully into the darkness of the hanger platform. Anakin and I drew our sabers while Rex put me in between Anakin and him to keep me safe from anything around us. Walking in further Anakin began to call out for his ARC trooper.

"Fives? Fives, we're here. Come on out, we just want to talk to you."

"General Skywalker, thank you. Thank you for trusting me. Have you come without troops?" Fives voice called out from the darkness, still hidden.
