Why Are You So Distracted?

Aurora's POV
Milo Rivers my old classmate back in
4th grade, he used to have a lot of admirers because of his Eye-catching special condition

His right eye is dark Blue while his left eye is dark chocolate brown and his hair that is light brown, if I haven't met Archer I may have been one of Milo's admirers

I peeked at Milo across the library with him concentrating on reading a calculus math book, if you look closely you can see his heterochromia but the dilemma is his long hair covering his face and he added thick glasses

His eyes are seen bigger and it is not proportioned properly to his face because of the lenses, I keep staring at him for a long period then unexpectedly a hand is waved at my face

"Aurora are you listening?" I noticed the person and it was Archer

"Archer?, I thought you won't be here until tomorrow and since when did you get here?" I asked him

"I was here at the library sitting in front of you for 30 minutes" Archer said

"Why are you so distracted?" Archer looked extremely concentrated on me

I glanced at Milo and smiled "It's nothing" I stated and gazed back at my Chemistry book, I think I just saw Archer sulk a little in the corner of my eye but I suppose that's just me thinking too much about it

The bell rang and it indicates that school just ended, I shut my book and packed up my stuff

I went out with Archer out of the library and I saw Milo go behind the university library, I got curious cause he took off where the stairs to the rooftop of the tallest building in the university

Then abruptly I assumed he might do the unthinkable, so I told Archer that I have to go somewhere and he said ok

I observed Milo quietly to the rooftop and I hid behind the door, I took a glimpse and I saw him sit down extremely close to the railings and I heard a buzzing sound from his bag

He pulled out his phone and answered the call, I can't hear the entire conversation but I simply heard him say "great job" and he stopped the call

I made an effort to take a peek again but my pencil case fell off my bag and made a loud noise, I tried to run away but an arm barricaded my path

I looked at Milo and I can see he looks irritated
"how much did you hear?" Milo interrogated me,
I mumbled "only a little"

He let out a frustrated sigh "what should I do?"

"what?"

"what should I do for you to not tell my secret" he looked serious

"I-" I hesitated it was wrong to take advantage of someone when they accidentally revealed themselves

"I don't have time, message me when you think about it" and he left

I glared at his back as he went down, Blaire called me as I was going home

"hey Aurora my cousin Xander is having a party at my house on Saturday do you want to come?" she asked

"I don't know Blaire I-"
"Archer will be there"
"Sure I'll come" She laughed at the other end of the line "I knew you would" then she hung up

••••••••the day of the party••••••••
I looked at my closet for a long time wondering what I should wear for the party since I lack taste in fashion I just pulled out a pink flower dress and a white cardigan

I precisely paired it with a beige bodybag and white shoes

I heard a knock at my door and I went to unlock it revealing it is Milly
"you ready?" she asked

I looked down at my outfit
"I guess?"
"you look fine don't worry Aurora" and she dragged me downstairs, I saw Blaire and Andrea

"Skye is already at the party, let's go!!" Andrea commented and Blaire pushed me outside, I saw a white SUV car outside and we rode on it to drive to the party

Blaire resided in a wealthy neighborhood so I was not surprised when we halted at the front of an enormous house that can be called a mansion

"we're here" Blaire announced
"you've got to be kidding, THIS IS YOUR HOUSE ?!" Milly said as we got out and I saw her face, her face is filled with shock it was difficult not to laugh at her expression

"It must be tough to find a family member in every room in that house" Andrea noted

"with my 5 brothers and 4 sisters it can get kinda tricky" Blaire responded

I gaped at Blaire with surprise, I have never heard of this before that Blaire has 9 siblings

"let's get in, I wanna see the inside!" as Milly jogged to the 2 door entrance of the house

I went in and my mouth was hanged wide open, high ceilings and a lot of chandeliers in different rooms

The wall is filled with balloons and some additional party ornaments, I went into the kitchen and it was even larger than the living room and the kitchen of my home combined

"now this is a side of Blaire that I haven't seen before" I told myself and I must have said it out loud when someone commented on my statements

"it's incredible isn't it?" I looked at the person and it was Sandra, Skye's Cousin who I've been friends with way longer than Archer

"OH MY GOODNESS, SANDRA!!" I let out in a loud voice, Sandra smiled and just hugged me

"Aurora, how long has it been?" she said as she takes a good look at me

"it's been 5 years since you went to Spain" I said

"Oh my goodness I missed you" as she hugged me again tightly

I heard that someone welcomed Archer loudly and I ran to the entrance, I was excited but stopped at what I saw

It was Eunice, Archer's girlfriend

Archer's arm was around Eunice like an embrace and everyone just chattered to Eunice, her smile lit up the room like she lit up his entire world. The world where I will never get to be in

I turned my back at them and Sandra saw my frozen face, she pulled me into the garden gazebo and we talked

It was dead silent at first but Sandra began to talk to me
"After all these years?"

I nodded and replied "After all these years Sandra, I know that I am just a friend to him and nothing more but it hurts so much" I said as tears started building up in my eyes and my vision is a bit blurry now because of the tears, my hands were shaking. The feelings that I have pent up inside for a long time starts pouring out like rain

Seeing someone you love to be with someone else is worse than anything to witness, there is something inside of me that wanted to take him but I know his happiness is being with her. These few years have been hectic and I wanted to show him what I can do that can outshine her. I was desperate that it was embarrassing
