Silent War

Aurora's POV
Maya bought me coffee from their coffee vending machine that was near to their canteen, we chose a seat near the window where the view is spectacular since we overlook most of the building that surrounded the office

Maya blew lightly at her coffee in a paper cup before sipping, I did the same thing as her but when the coffee reached my lips I have to move it away instantly since it was too hot. I put the paper cup down on the table to let the coffee cool

"So how is Milo as a boyfriend?" Maya asked me, My finger traced the rim of the paper cup as my eyes watched the steam come out

"I would never expect him to be my boyfriend in the first place but in the end I thankfully made a right choice asking him out"

My hand reached for the compact mirror that I brought that was inside the pocket of the blazer that was draped over my shoulders, the way the blazer covered me made me feel like those rich aunts in the movies who has a dramatic intro

Maya looked at me strange "So you asked him out first?" I heard a British accent from the way she said it to me

I tilted my head to the left and gave her my confused face "Is there something wrong in asking a guy out first?"

Maya shaped her head with a smile on her face, her luscious curls bounce along as she moved her head "It's not that I don't find anything wrong in a woman asking a man out first but I would have never even imagined Milo would accept since I..well we would usually describe him as a first move guy" she crossed her legs, it seems like our conversation is going to become serious

My one hand closed the compact mirror as my eyes were now set on Maya as she looked at me with pure and honest clear eyes making me believe in her, I scoffed a bit at the thought of Milo would even make the first move

"Sure he acts like a dork but I would never even imagine him as a guy who would make the first move since in University he would always be socializing with people he would genuinely like which makes him very selective in people, I don't even think he has even asked a girl out from our school" I shrugged at Maya as my hand touched the side of the paper cup to realize that the coffee is now cooled down so I grabbed the cup and took a sip

Maya giggled "Yeah, he could be very selective in Talking to his workers too but it is mostly from getting in trouble"

She leaned forward to me with both of her arms crossed on top of the table "There used to be a guy here named Patrick but he almost sold the company to a rich Chinese man who thought that he was buying the R.D. Enterprises" she whispered to me

My hand hovered on top of my mouth like a shocked expression "How did he get to even convince the Chinese man to buy the company?" I asked with a whisper because if any employee would hear what we are talking about I would automatically assume that we are going to be having a long lecture by Milo or even Devan since this was a touchy subject

She stood up bringing the chair with her to sit close to me, she cupped both of her hands to my ear and whispered "He stole a file that contained the property of the land and the legal documents of the company"

My eyes went wide, if there is one thing I could imagine Patrick being is that he is a dead man

"Was he a secretary?" I asked and she shakes her head, she leaned in again to whisper "He was a Janitor who used to be friends with Milo back in their childhood days"

Then it must be jealousy, seeing Milo have a great position in the company and has a cousin who owns it would make any guy feel inferior but it is not an excuse to make a criminal act

"He must have thought that selling the land and company would make him instant rich" Maya brushed off her hair that covered her chest

A small plate full of donut bites were laid in front of us and the bob haired day from before was standing with a wide grin "Mind if I join?" She asked me clearly ignoring Maya and I can sense Maya's mood change quickly from bubbly to hostile

Are they enemies? But maybe I was just assuming things "Uh sure"

She sat quickly at the extra chair from the table and asked us "So what are you guys talking about?" She blinked multiple times to enhance the glued on eyelash that was long

Maya rolled her eyes at her "We are only talking about her love life with Milo, hmph!" She draped an arm around me trying to belittle the bob haired girl

She ignored Maya and her eyes went to me "I forgot to introduce myself, I am Carlila nice to meet you" her voice was so like vanilla

"I guess you were about to say something about your love life to Milo isn't it?" She asked eagerly as her hand took a donut bite and held it up for me to eat it

We are not that close to doing that, so I took the donut bite from her hand and ate it in front of her as I flash her a grateful look. The air in the table got so tense that I needed a break

"Looks like I need to powder my face, I'll be back in a sec" I informed them and went into the comfort room

The trip to the washroom was all the time I need to relax from their heavy tension that was causing me to feel awkward in their silent war on each other
