Chapter 13: Tall Task

(SmackDown)

Tonight was SmackDown, and Luke has a tall task ahead as he is booked in a match against Commander Azeez, as ordered by Bruce Prichard for his attack by the Nomad a few weeks ago.

Luke however did not seem fazed or intimidated by the match, given that Azeez has the height and weight advantage, but that all changed when Luke slammed him down with a monstrous spinebuster.

The Nomad was wrapping his hands and whistling as Liv skipped into his locker room.

Liv: there's my Lukey

Luke: hey cutie

Liv: sounds like you're not intimidated about your match

Luke: whatever that balyena puts in front of me, I will steamroll over them

Liv: oh yeah, that spinebuster was awesome

Luke: then that will happen again tonight

Liv: I can't wait

Luke: how about you? Are you booked?

Liv: yup, I'm going against Nattie

Luke: ooh, against one half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions

Liv: yes, hopefully I can build some momentum to earn my opportunity

Luke: me and the fans want to see you as champion

He said as he stroked her cheek, making Liv smile and melt.

Liv: I'm dreaming for that to happen

Luke: it will come true soon

Liv: I hope so

(A few minutes later)

Triple H took over for tonight as Bruce was unable to attend the show due to the attack he suffered.

The show opened as usual with the Tribal Chief, the Head of the Table and the current Universal Champion Roman Reigns with his cousins, the reigning and defending SmackDown Tag Team Champions, the Usos, after they defeated Rey and Dominik Mysterio a few weeks ago.

Roman got on the mic and said that he had denied the challenge set by John Cena, and has yet to respond to another challenge made by the former NXT Champion, the Prinxe Finn Balor.

(In the locker room)

Luke was still in shock as he remembered seeing Finn returning to SmackDown a changed man; no longer the smiling extraordinary man doing extraordinary things, now a serious antihero type Prinxe.

Luke: Finn has changed

Reigns did not give a clear response to Finn's challenge as he only told the crowd to acknowledge him before he left the ring.

(Minutes later)

It was now time for Liv's one on one match against Natalya, one half of the current WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. Liv has shown a lot of her hard work and guts, gaining a lot of support from the WWE Universe while the crowd wants her to be given a push for a potential title down the road.

Liv already made her entrance and stared down at Natalya while being cautious of Tamina at ringside. The bell rang and the two locked up. Natalya had the early advantage with a standing side headlock, but Liv fired back by pushing Natalya to the ropes to connect with a dropkick, forcing Natalya to roll out of the ring to catch her breath and regroup for a second.

Natalya got back in the ring and missed a right hand as Liv ran to the turnbuckles, jumped and got Natalya with a spinning tornado DDT. She then went for the count, but only good for one.

(Few minutes later)

Liv escaped an attempted Sharpshooter as she kicked Natalya from behind, making the tag team champion stumble to the ropes; Liv took the chance to hit the ObLIVion, but Natalya managed to hang on to the ropes. Natalya then took the chance for the cheap roll up pin, but Liv managed to kick out.

(End of match)

Liv neutralized Tamina with a baseball slide dropkick. Then she went in the ring to avoid another shot from Natalya; Liv sprang into action and nails an ObLIVion for a big pinfall win.

The crowd cheered loud as they saw Liv raised her arms in victory, hopefully putting her in a title shot in the future.

(In the locker rooom)

Luke popped up from his seat and jumped up.

Luke: yes! That's what I want to see! That's my girl! Eat that you balyena! Oh that's right you're recovering at home

The Nomad left his locker room to go find his cute, bouncy girlfriend. Liv walked backstage and saw Luke walking towards her. Liv smiled big and ran towards him and then jumped into his arms for her signature hug.

Luke: yes babe yes!

Liv: I did it!

Luke: yes! I'm next

Liv: use my win for momentum for your match

Luke: well in your words Liv, watch me

Liv: ooh, clever wordplay

Luke: for you babe

He smiled as he kissed her head and went to the gorilla.

(Few minutes later)

It was the main event as the Intercontinental Champion goes against Apollo Crew's big elite guard Commander Azeez.

The Nomad made his entrance to a big ovation, but as usual, he did not care about the cheers as he was in focus mode with the three things on his mind: arrive, beat everyone and leave.

Luke got in the ring and raised his title while the crowd cheered loud as they see the classic Ruthless Aggression design.

Then Apollo's theme played and the Nigerian Prince came out with his big and tall elite guard right behind him.

Azeez got in the ring and stared down at the Nomad; Luke stood his ground and was not intimidated.

The two men stared each other down and the referee signaled for the bell to ring.

As the bell rang, Luke used his speed to avoid a shot from the Nigerian guard and did the smart thing by chopping down on his legs and then landed shots. Azeez got back up and pushed him off.

Then the Commander ran, but Luke ducked and pulled down the top rope to send the big man out of the ring. Azeez stumbled, giving Luke the chance to push him to the steel ring post followed by a couple of punches; he then threw Azeez into the barricade. He then threw the Nigerian guard back in the ring for an early cover, but the big man kick out.

(Few minutes later)

Luke tried to take down Azeez with shoulder blocks and clotheslines, but the big man took him down with a boot. Azeez picked him up and lands a big blow on Luke's back. The Nomad tried to fight back with a couple punches, and then ran from the ropes, but Azeez countered it with a sitout chokebomb.

Azeez went for the pin, but the Intercontinental Champion got his shoulder up, much to the shock of Azeez and Apollo at ringside.

(End of match)

The elite guard picked up Luke, and looks to end it with the Nigerian Nail, but as Azeez went for it, Luke ducked and takes down the big man with a monstrous spinebuster.

Apollo tried to ran interference, but he was taken down with a right hand from the Nomad. Luke turned his attention back to Azeez; the Intercontinental Champion got in position and locks in the Katipunan Clutch, forcing Azeez to tap out. As the bell rang, Luke kept the hold on for a few seconds before he let go. 

The Nomad stood up and raised his arms as announcer Greg Hamilton declared him the winner. However, his celebration was cut short as Apollo came in to land some shots. Luke fought and pushed him off and then hits another spinebuster. Then Luke locked in the Katipunan Clutch as Apollo tapped out immediately. After a few seconds, the Nomad let go and got back up.

The show ended with Luke standing over Apollo and Azeez while he raised his Intercontinental Championship.
