17. questions to ask

"hey you know what we need to do for you?" ricky asked as him and nini arrived towards their lockers

nini gasped "ooo! i love this game! okay-um...go to the cinema? oh oh! ride a ferris wheel? or is it to have a picnic in the park! please be a picnic in the park!!"

ricky chuckled, shaking his head with a grin as he opened the locker door "i was going to say make your socials accounts. carlos and gina asked for yours yesterday when big red mentioned that he wasn't able to find and tag you."

nini looked at ricky in confusion "why would big red want to put a tag on me? is this a salt lake expression?"

"i thought you knew how to use twitter?"

nini blinked "oh! um-that's for my own account-no one follows. or should. ever."

ricky nodded hesitantly "...okay..." he said slowly before shaking his head "anyway, we should make you an instagram and twitter account."

nini nodded "yes sir!"

he rolled his eyes playfully as she got her books out of her bag, putting them in her locker as she exchanged them for another subject and closed the metal door

"what subject do you have now?"

nini sighed "history."

"i thought you found history 'fascinating!'" he grinned

nini gave him a playful glare "firstly, i do not appreciate the imitation." she said, making him chuckle "and furthermore, if you must know, i already learnt everything there is to know about the cold war and world war two."

"you do, do you?"

nini nodded "my mother was very keen on making me read and history always was quite interesting to me, so i would learn a lot about the past of the world."

ricky looked at her in slight awe. he loved to hear her talk. just talk about random things, because she always had something to say on anything. something interesting and new. it was refreshing and comforting to him.

the sudden bell ringing made nini jump again, still not getting used to the sound as ricky snapped out of his thoughts

"right! well-you know where you're going right?" he asked concerned

nini nodded with a smile "i'll see you this afternoon?"

"i might be a bit late..." he muttered "but-i'll see you."

nini gave him one more grin before turning around and skipping off to class, ricky exhaling as he made his way in the other direction.

"-i still cannot believe he was so mean as to ignore me." nini joked with a light laugh as she looked at her previous messages that she'd exchanged with ricky this afternoon

"i still can't believe you've been talking about ricky for the past hour." kevin grinned as he wiped down the counter

nini widened her eyes "have i?"

kevin nodded with the same smirk as the brunette girl laughed nervously

"oh..." she said before clearing her throat "well-"

she felt relief overflow her however when she saw the kitchen door open, erica walking through with a notepad

"hey, kev, we're low on chocolate chips and butter, i might have to go out and get some-" the woman stopped as she looked up to the two and knit her eyebrows together "what's up?"

"nothing!" nini exclaimed suddenly with a nervous laugh

erica looked at the girl in confusion before the kitchen door opened again to reveal ricky

"hey, you're here early." kevin pointed out

ricky opened his mouth and cleared his throat "yeah-uh-had nothing else to do."

"everything good at home?" erica asked in a low voice

ricky nodded with a forced smile "yup. me and nini are gonna go hang out. right?"

nini looked back at ricky in concern when realizing he was a little off but she just nodded slowly

"um...yes." she said "we'll just be in the field..."

erica and kevin nodded as nini lead ricky out the back door, questions inside her mind that she needed to ask.
