"𝘐𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 1600𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘺 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘬,"
Jacob explained the history to Camila, walking over to his corkboard, pulling a book out.

"Two brothers were lured into a realm of evil by a real witch, never to be seen again," Jacob frowned. "People have stopped believing in the horrors of witchcraft, but I know the truth."

Jacob slammed his fist onto the table once he had placed the book down, Camila whispering to Luz.

"Whoa, Luz, this is quite a detailed story."

"But now I've got proof that otherworldly beings exist," Jacob walked towards the cloth-covered item.

"Behold!"

The male pulled the cloth off, Vee in a cage as her mouth was taped shut. Camila bent down, smiling before adjusting her glasses. The woman's smile then slowly vanished after seeing the realistic scales, Vee's tail flicking before it shone.

"That is a very, uh, convincing... costume?"

Camila's surprise finally took hold as Vee blinked, her eyelids flashing shut vertically, the woman crying out in horror as she backed off.

"A costume? This is a real live demon!" Jacob exclaimed. "Come here! Watch this!"

The male typed a few things out before Camila nervously walked towards the device, Jacob smiling viciously.

He then played a video, Camila seeing Vee walk into the camera as Luz, eyes widening in horror as she saw the girl get snared in the trap. The woman gasped, seeing the being in the cage in the video.

"More vile beings would probably come to its rescue. But I can protect humanity!"

Jacob smiled, Camila still staring at the screen in horror before facing the obsessed male, Jacob then pointing to one of his prized possessions.

"I-I even had some custom gear made at the renaissance fair."

The male pointed at the glass case that encased a suit of armour, smiling brightly as Camila watched, horrified.

"Usually, I don't take it out for just anyone, but what the heck!" Jacob grinned. "If I'm gonna be working with the government, I might as well show of a little."

Jacob raced off, grabbing a hooked stick, making an effort to take the glass case off of the ledge he had placed it on.

"All right, let me just... uh–"

While the curator was busy with his costume, Camila glanced down at her phone, fear seeping through her veins.

"Luz, come on. I don't like this game anymore..." Camila turned away, looking into her daughter's eyes. Luz placed a hand on the phone screen, frowning at her mother.

"It's not a game, Mama. Everything I told you was true."

"So that thing has been living with me the entire time?" Camila glanced into the cage. "I-It's just a lot to believe..."

"Her name is Vee," Luz smiled slightly. "And she may look different, but she's not bad. Please, you gotta help her."

Camila frowned before facing Vee, the demon blinking sadly at her before she flinched, covering her face with her hands as Camila walked towards her. The woman then unexpectedly kneeled down, smiling at the demon.

"Hello," Camila smiled. "This is all so confusing, but who knew I had such a strong girl living under my roof this whole time?"

Vee perked up, moving her hands away before smiling at Camila, tearing up at the woman's kindness, the Latina woman smiling back.
