Scarecrow [3]

The elders were tying Dean and Emily to two adjacent trees.

"How many people have you killed, Sheriff?" Dean spat "How much blood is on your hands?"

"We don't kill them," The Sheriff reasoned.

"No, but you sure cover-up after. I mean, how many cars have you hidden, cloths have you buried?"

The Sheriff walked away.

"Uncle Harley, please," Emily pleaded.

"I am so sorry, Em." Harley said "I wish it wasn't you,"

"Try to understand." Stacy said "It's our responsibility. And there's just no other choice. There's nobody else but you,"

"I'm your family," Emily cried.

"Sweetheart, that's what sacrifice means. Giving up something you love for the greater good. The town needs to be safe. The good of the many outweighs the good of the one,"

"I hope your apple pie is freakin' worth it!" Dean shouted as the elders walked away from the duo.

"So, what's the plan?" Emily asked.

"I'm workin' on it,"

"You don't have a plan, do you?" Emily realized

"Can you see?" Dean asked, ignoring Emily's question.

"What?"

"Is he moving yet?"

"I can't see,"

A shadow was seen moving near the trees.

"Oh my God," Emily breathed "Oh my God!"

Sam and Phoenix came out from behind the trees.

"Dean?" Sam called out

"Oh! Oh, I take everything back I said." Dean cheered "I'm so happy to see you. Come on,"

Sam began untying Dean from the tree while Phoenix helped Emily.

"How'd you get here?"

"I, uh-I stole a car," Sam admitted.

Phoenix snorted "Don't give him too much credit, I had to hotwire the thing,"

"Hey keep an eye on that scarecrow. He could come alive any minute,"

Sam and Phoenix shared a look.

"What scarecrow?" Sam asked.

Dean got up and saw the scarecrow's post was empty. "We need to get out of here,"

"No." Phoenix argued "We need to find the tree and burn it,"

"In the morning. Let's just shag ass before Leather Face catches up,"

The four of them reached a clearing, waiting for them were the elders and a few other townspeople.

"This way," Dean ordered.

The group turned around but were blocked in all directions.

"Please." Emily pleaded "Let us go,"

"It'll be over quickly, I promise," Harley proclaimed.

"Please,"

"Emily, you have to let him take you. You have to..." Harley was stopped midsentence as the scarecrow stuck his sickle through Harley's stomach.

Emily and Stacy screamed, then Stacy was captured by the scarecrow, too.

Emily ran into Dean's arms while her aunt and uncle were dragged away by the scarecrow.

The rest of the townspeople ran away in fright.

"Come on," Phoenix said "let's go,"

It was morning when the group reached the sacred apple tree with gasoline and a light.

Sam went to the tree and poured the gasoline on it.

Phoenix formed a fireball in her hand.

Emily placed a hand on the redhead's shoulder "Let me,"

Phoenix shrugged and backed off.

Emily lit a tree branch on fire and threw the burning branch onto the tree, the four of them watched it go up in flames.

Emily smiled at Dean as she sat on the bus heading to Boston.

Dean, Sam, and Phoenix watched the bus leave.

"Think she's gonna be alright?" Sam wondered.

"I hope so," Dean sighed.

"And the rest of the townspeople, they'll just get away with it?"

Phoenix scoffed "What'll happen to the town will have to be punishment enough."

The trio started heading to the Impala.

"So, can I drop you off somewhere?" Dean asked.

Phoenix looked over at Sam for his response.

"No, I think you're stuck with us," Sam smiled.

"What made you change your mind?" Dean smirked over at Phoenix.

"I didn't." Sam admitted "I still wanna find Dad. And you're still a pain in the ass. But, Jess and Mom-they're both gone. Dad is God knows where. You and me. We're all that's left. So, if we're gonna see this through, we're gonna do it together,"

"Hold me, Sam." Dean teased "That was beautiful,"

"You should be kissing our asses," Phoenix laughed "you were dead meat, dude,"

"Yeah, right. I had a plan, I'd have gotten out,"

"Right," Phoenix said as she rolled her eyes.
