Chapter 24

It was noon just past 14:00 in the afternoon when Shinobu would find herself in an awkward situation. She had forgotten about Sanemi coming to fetch her this resulted in a very awkward encounter with Giyu and Sanemi. After spending their time curled up in bed talking about how it was to be apart from each other she'd decided it was time to go home. The last thing the expected was to open the door to find Sanemi while Shinobu was still around mildly flustered and touchy with Giyu. Now she found herself in a very silent car staring at the road. A deep sigh came from the driver as he finally decided to cut through the tension he turned to the girl in his passenger seat.

"Kocho. " The said hi turned to him with a hum of acknowledgement. " I still don't approve of this. "

" Ara Sanemi-kun your not my brother yet so your concerns are baseless. Though with that type of care and Kanae will marry you in no time. " Shinobu teased making the white haired man blush.

" You idiot stop saying such crap. " A small chuckle was heard in the back as Muichiro made his presence known.

" Sure and yet your blushing. " Muichiro said making Shinobu burst into a fit of giggles at Sanemi's expense. The chief policeman looked pissed.

" You really need to stop hanging with the Kamado girl. " Sanemi said in between gritty teeth as he stared in the mirror to get a clear view of the boy in his backseat.  " Besides you can't talk about blushing afterall you like her. " Muichiro looked up from his phone uninterested before turning back to his phone. Though it was quick Shinobu did catch a flash of pink dusting his cheeks.

" Oh my gosh. That's so cute. You two would make the cutest couple in school mix that with Kanao and Tanjiro then it's a cuteness overload. " Shinobu said as she fangirled at the possibility.

" Whoa calm down Kanroji. We need Kocho back. " Muichiro spoke calmly still gazing at his phone. Shinobu's face scrunched from fangril to sinister killer.

" You know Tokito when a girl gives you a compliment you take it and don't insult her. " Her voice dripped of venom as she turned slightly to look at the boy her dangerous smile on. Muichiro looked up for a second and caught a glimpse before he directed his gaze to his phone. " Muichiro do my words make sense to you? Or should I force you to understand? "

" Yes, thank you for the compliment Shinobu senpai. " The boy was quick to respond to her threat. Sanemi had an anime see drop as he witnessed to situation.

" Speaking of which where is Mitsuri? I thought she'd jump at the chance for a road trip. " Shinobu spoke as she scanned the cars other companions. " And honestly I need someone to talk to. "

" Mitsuri is still a cop so she has duties. She can't be slacking off when she's just a beginner. Also she said she had to meet with Iguro later. " Sanemi spoke eyes on the road and surprisingly calm.

" Oh okay. Though I just gotta ask how is he a cop? " Shinobu asked as she pointed her finger towards Muichiro who still was invested in his phone.

" He isn't one. " Sanemi said with a bit of coolness to his tone. He sensed the question at the tip of Shinobu's tongue coming his way so he spoke before she could even utter a sound. " I found him on one of my first cases. Your stalker was in a three man group called the upper moons and when I started out one of their members had been on a killing spree. "

" What? "

" While out one patrol one night I caught sight of commission in a nearby park so I went to investigate. There I found the group leader Kokushiba holding to kids a gun point. I don't know what happened but my instinct kicked in and I managed to divert his attention. " Sanemi tightened his grip on the steering wheel as he glanced at the young boy in the mirror who smile down at his phone as if the rest of the world didn't exist. " The fight got out of control the gun set of and the bullet just grazed my arm however one of the kids got hit by the bullet in the chest. Of course I had no clue much rather I beat and detained Kokushiba but by the time I'd realised what happened the boy had passed. "
