Request for Hehe200 I just fucking realized this was from last December I'm so sorry-

Used Gov here cause I dunno I probably should start doing that more maybe. Gov/DC is the same person here. It is for most chapters

Texas adjusted his collar. This wasn't too spiffy for a first date was it?....no..he'd be fine it was just a different button up and dress pants that's all that was really different....was it..not fancy enough? Shit- Should he get a tie?

He checked his watch.

7:55. pm

They agreed to meet downstairs at 8:00. Fuck. No time to change now.

He rushed downstairs, slowing before he got to the bottom. He didn't exactly know why, maybe to seem more cool and collected if Cali was there? Although there would be no point in that, they'd gotten in enough arguments to know eachothers worst sides all too well.

California was in fact already there, overly punctual to a fault, as always. He had also gone for dress pants and a better shirt, ditching the flannel but apparently not the beanie. That's ok though it's not like he took off his own hat.

Cali was also wearing what appeared to be makeup? Of some sort? Just a little bit, but he never knew he could do that, good for him.

Cali stopped fidgeting with his hands for a small moment to give him an awkward smile and wave, to which he tipped his hat, returning the smile.

"Hi-"

"Hey" Texas was glad he wasn't the only nervous one. "You look good!"

"Really?- I mean- yeah you too."

More awkward silence.

"So...." Cali went to adjust his flannel, before realizing it wasn't there.

"You wanna..go now?"

"Yep-" California nodded, thankful for the relief from just standing there awkwardly.

Texas opened the door, letting the smaller state out first.

They get in Tex's truck (He insisted on driving) and just like that they were in their way. Finally on a date after so long of torturous pining. I mean they really didn't make it easy to get to this point. Dumbasses, the both of them.

They did still argue, after agreeing to this. They're even doing it on the road there, but it's not like some of their worst arguments. More flirty, teasing, something they both know is more or less jokingly, or not in an "I hate you, shame on your whole family" way. They've been getting along really well now.

Despite that, the car ride is mostly silent. Texas tries to chalk it up to first date awkwardness, but he couldn'tstop from over analyzing it. He really hoped Cali did actually like him.

He tried to reassure himself that things are always harder the first time.

Finally they arrive after an oh so long silence of 10 minutes, to the nearest [insert restaurant name here]. Only place they could really agree on. A place that the author, a Canadian, has no idea where they went and was quite shocked to discover America and most of Canada did not have Whitespots even though most of the restaurant design and food were based on BC's stuff. How do you people live without it or it's objectively better, cheaper, and faster child company triple O's. What in the fuck. The Author however still wanted to write this so just like....fill in whatever restaurant fits.

They get seated, across from eachother and handed a menu.

California picks his up, pretending to skim over it. There was really only one thing he ordered here, and no reason for him to be doing this but it was....well kinda awkward and he just wanted a bit of an escape.
