NANDINI POV
It was Monday again and I wasn't looking forward to going to school. People would stare at me but I can't miss classes if I want to get through this year.
Navya and Aryamaan were waiting for me in front of the school because I told them I was afraid of going to school alone.
I have Nvaya a hug and I punched Aryamaan for teaching Manik things that he is using against me.
ARYAMAAN: "Awwh, what was that for," he asked rubbing the spot I punched
"For telling Manik what 'Wallahi' means" I replied with a serious expression
ARYAMAAN: "Well, I'm not sorry," he said and turned around walking towards the school
I was chatting with Navya about everything that happened, about the assault, and that I'm grounded
I opened my locker and Navya went to hers, she will be back if she got all her books out of her locker. Aryamaan ditched us and went to his friends
I picked up the last book I needed for my first period until I heard someone clearing their throat
'Please don't be Alya please don't be Alya'I begged silently
"Alya!" I said when I turned around
ALYA: "I wasn't done with you, you little bitch. Lying about being sexually assaulted by a friend of mine. He probably just touched you and you-"
"Walk away whore" I heard someone interrupt her
Alya looked behind her and to my astonishment, I saw an angry Mukti. Not angry at me, but angry at Alya. Was she protecting me?
MUKTI: "Lost your tongue? Move along!" she shouted
A few friends backed Mukti up by standing next to her. Alya looked at me, gave me an angry look, and left
I stopped Mukti as soon as she wanted to leave
"Wait,euhm..thankyou" I hesitated
MUKTI: "Don't need to thank me, friends of my brother are also my friends" she said and left
Wait, the Mukti that would've killed me at the start of this school year just called me her friend? Weird things are going on at this college
It was lunch break and boy I was hungry...Navya and Aryamaan just ditched me, I have no idea where they went. I just know she was hiding something from me, but leaving me alone at lunch for Aryamaan?
I swear to god I will cook her alive if something is going on between those two without telling me.
I entered the canteen and was looking for an empty spot but I couldn't find one. Everybody was staring at me, maybe I should've also taken a few days off. I already had some girl yelling at me for 'wrong accusing her friend of assault'
I didn't think it would be this bad, but people were actually at me like I was some piece of shit.I think that Maddy had a lot of friends and they weren't happy that I was the reason he got expelled. Did they forget that he almost raped me?
They would've treated me differently if I was another girl, someone who didn't wear a scarf was still looking around in the canteen until I heard Mukti calling me the name
MUKTI: "Nandini, come sit with us!" she shouted towards me
Every head at that table turned to face me as soon as she did that. But they weren't looking at me like I was some intruder, no they looked friendly.
They genuinely smiled at me, not like all the other girls that looked at me in the hallways
One guy, apparently a good friend of Maddy, practically threatened me earlier. His exact words were" You're lucky that Manik is also my friend, otherwise, I would've finished what Maddy started"
It's just disgusting to me that they can still support a guy that wanted to rape a girl.No way am I going to tell Mnaik about what that guy said. He would kill him and I don't want him to get in trouble again. I've done enough damage
"Hey!" everybody greeted me at the table
I greeted them back and Mukti gave me a sign to sit across her
MUKTI: "So how are you? Feeling better since the incident?" she asked
"Yeah, how are you?" everybody asked in the union
"I'm fine girls, thank you" I answered
"I can't believe I was with that douche," one of the girls said rubbing my back
"I'm just happy he's been expelled, but his friends aren't that happy though.."I said looking at my food
MUKTI: "Did Alya say something again?!" she asked
"No no, it's just another student that gave me weird looks pr whisper something, but it's fine"
"Dear, they're dead if somebody opens their mouth when we're around, "One of the girls said
"Thank you," I said and smiled at her
Lunch was over and Navya finally texted me that she would be back in 10 minutes. I've decided to wait in front of the school for her. I said my goodbyes to the girls and left
MUKTI: "Wait Nandini, do you want to come over later? Mom invited you but I think that Manik wants to see you too," she said
"I can't, I'm grounded. My mother calls the house phone to check if I'm home" I responded, but to be honest, I wasn't in the mood anyway.
Mukti understood and we said our goodbyes. I was happy with the 'new Mukti' she's kind. I have no idea why she made a huge change.
