28. I want to see you

I've been trying to call Manik for the past few hours, but he wasn't picking up. I lost it when we arrived home 4 hours ago. I just cried like a baby and Abhimanyu wanted the guy that assaulted me dead

*4 hours earlier*

ABHIMANYU: "HE IS DEAD FUCKING BASTARD!" he shouted closing the front door hard

"Abhi j-"

ABHIMANYU: "NO! If somebody dares to touch my sister, they are doomed!" he interrupted me

"JUST SHUT UP OKAY!"I shouted while a few tears slipped out.

Abhimanyu was looking at me with a worried expression

"I AM the one that almost got raped!" I kneeled on the ground and started crying

"I hate him"I whispered

Abhimanyu hugged me instantly and tried to soothe me

It was half an hour later and we were sitting on the couch just watching TV while I was trying to call Manik

ABHIMANYU: "Any luck?" he asked

"No, still no answer" I responded

ABHIMANYU: "I awe that man a lot for protecting you, you know," he said with a soft smile

I smiled back and focussed on trying to call Manik again

ABHIMANYU: "Hey, do you..euhm.." he hesitated

"Just spill it Abhi," I said

ABHIMANYU: "Do you like him?" he asked

"What!?Ofcourse not...He's just a really good friend" I responded

He nodded and turned his face to the TV

Mom came home a few hours ago but I was hiding in my room, I wasn't ready to tell her what happened today

Abhimanyu promised me that he wouldn't say anything. It was difficult but I convinced him.

The sound of my phone interrupted my thought, it was Manik...He finally called me back after I called him like 100 time

"Manik?" I asked

MANIK: "Yeah Nandini, how are you? Are you okay?" he asked

He was the one being with cops the whole day and he was wondering if I was okay?

"I'm fine Manik, did they let you go?" I asked

MANIK: "Yes, they did for now but I have to appear in court in 3 weeks for assault" he replied

"That's Bullshit! You didn't do anything wrong besides protecting me!" I responded

MANIK: "Yes I know and I have a big shot of winning according to my attorney," he said

"You don't deserve this" I sobbed

MANIK: "Neither do you, Maddy is dead if he isn't already...I want to see you Nandini," he said softly

"I want to see you too" I responded

I really wanted to see him. I wanted to know if he was okay, I wanted to hold him and never let go

MANIK: "Meet me at the park around 7 pm," he said

"Okay I'll be there if I can sneak out of the house" I replied

MANIK: "Bst of luck and bye," he said laughing

"Bye" and he hung up

Now I need to find someone to cover the meetup

Navya, she doesn't even know what happened today. I'll call her

NAVYA: "Heeey where were you today? You ditched me hard!" she exclaimed angrily

"I'm sorry, but something happed today" I responded

NAVYA: "Yeah! I heard, apparently Manik almost punched Maddy to death," she said

"NO! that isn't what happened" I responded angrily

NAVYA: "Then what happened?" she asked

I told her everything, Maddy assaulting me, Manik almost killing him by protecting me and Manik's and my time at the police station

NAVYA: "I'm coming over" she insisted

"No Navya, I'm meeting Manik in a few but I need a cover story"

NAVYA: "Hold on, since when have you become so sneaky," she said I know she is smirking

"Will you help me or not?" I asked

NAVYA: "I will of course, but if something happens between you and Manik, you must tell me," she said

"Okay, we'll do," I said

Nothing is going to happen, she needs to chill

"I'll just tell mom and Abhi that I'm staying at your place this evening, watching movies or whatever.." I said

NAVYA: "Okay call me after you meet up with your boyfriend" she teased me

"Shut up " I replied

NAVYA: "Love you bye" and she hung up

She always made me smile, I just hope that everything is going according to plan

I looked at my clock and saw that it was already a quarter to 7.

"Mom, I'm going to Navya's place," I said putting on my shoes

ABHIMANYU: "Do you want me to take you?" he offered

MOM: "Wait wait wait, since when did you both start talking like normal people?" she asked raising her eyebrow

"Since today and no, I'll take the bus"I lied

MOM: "Okay honey" she kissed my cheek

I walked to the park as it wasn't that far away from my house. When I arrived there I already saw 

Manik sitting on a bench, as soon as he saw me he ran up to me and hugged me

MANIK: "Don't you dare tell me that I can't touch you" he said hugging me tightly

"You get a free pass for now," I said

We sat down and talked about everything...School, the charges, Maddy, and our friends

MANIK: "I'm not going to school for a few days next week...just to let everything blow over," he said

"I understand, I'm going through...I'm not missing any classes because of that..." I cursed under my breath

MANIK: "Wait let me complete it for you fucking man whore"

"Yeah" I replied

"I'm sorry that you're going to court because of me," I said looking down

MANIK: "Don't apologize, I would do it again" he said grabbing my hand

I looked at the clock and saw that it was already 10 pm,

"Shit, mom is going to kill me," I said standing up

MANIK: "C'mon I'll drive you home" he offered

We both jumped in the car and he drove me home. He returned down the radio and looked at me. We were stopping at a red stoplight

MANIK: "SO?" he begins

"So?" I repeated

MANIK: "So umm," he said again hesitating

"So what?" I asked
