NANDINI POV

I arrived home and immediately went to my room. Mom was still at work and the others were probably with friends

I was thinking about Manik and what the doctor told me until I heard my phone go off. Apparently, I still have friends...

It was Mukti, I didn't want to lie to her so I declined the call. She will probably be asking questions about Manik's behaviors and I'm not the best at lying

After I declined the call, my phone went off. But this time it was a message from Mukti, saying:

"Stop ignoring me, I'm outside your house, open the door Nandini"

Before I went to open the door, I looked out of the window to check if Mukti was indeed outside. Mukti was waiting in front of the house leaning against a wall, waiting until I opened the door

I looked around hoping that she was alone, even though I want to help Manik, he still said some childish things

She was alone so I decided to open the door, I just need to keep Mnaik's act up I guess...

MUKTI: "Finally?! I was waiting for almost 5 minutes!" she said as I opened the door

Let's just say that she's impatiently, really impatient...

She walked in and dropped her stuff on the kitchen table.

MUKTI: "Now we need to talk," she said crossing her arms

I wonder what she has to say...

We sat down and started

MUKTI: "Okay Nandini where do I start?"

"Just spill it Mukti" I responded

It came out harsher than I meant, but I was slightly annoyed because she took her time. I'm a patient girl, but as soon as someone says they 'need to talk', I begin to panic

MUKTI: "I know about Manik," she said which surprised me.

MUKTI: "And so does mom," she said

Wait a sec...

MUKTI: "He will get the treatment, but he needs your support"

What was he thinking?

"My support?"I responded annoyed

"Mukti I'm glad you and your mother know and I'm relieved that Manik is getting the treatment, but tell him that he doesn't need to send his little sister for help because he's not brave enough to ask himself"I stood up and opened the front door

"Can you leave? I have the stuff to do"I said

I know that was very rude but I also have self-respect, I also get hurt. And instead of coming himself and asking for an apology, he sends his sister

MUKTI: "Nandini please do.." she said before I interrupted her

"Go Mukti, tell Manik to man up and to apologize to me in person," I said looking straight into her eyes

She nodded and left

I closed the door and leaned against it before going to my room.

What was he thinking? I mean, I still hate him for what he said but I don't want him dead. I'm glad he's getting treatment, that means that my job here is done.

I want him to come by and apologize and ask for my 'support' in person, that doesn't mean I will give him that. Now that his family knows, he doesn't need me anymore

MANIK POV

MUKTI: "Bro, you fucked up big time," she said when she arrived at him

She was only gone for 30 minutes

MUKTI: "Nandini hates yous o bad, that she even kicked me out of her house"

MOM: "That doesn't sound like Nandini," my mother said as she was surprised about Nandini's behavior

I wasn't, to be honest

What I said wasn't anything, and it means that I probably lose her forever

MUKTI: "Well, she said that you need to man up and talk to her in person," she said

MOM: "Not today, we're going to the hospital to start the therapy before it's too late," she said

"Mom I really need to talk to Nandini" I was scared that if I waited much longer, it would be too late.

MOM: "Yes and you can do that tomorrow, she will understand" she was right...if I want to get rid of cancer I had to start the therapy as soon as possible

....

MOM: "What did you say to her?" she asked when we were on our way to the hospital. She had already called the doctor who said that I could start my treatment today.

I couldn't tell her about the kiss, even though Mukti already knew

"I just blackmailed her, "I said

MOM: "It's weird you just blackmailed her and she is this mad huh?" she responded

MOM: "Anyway, I don't even want to know with what you blackmailed her cause you're clearly not telling me everything these days" his voice cracked and I saw that tear was sliding down.

I grabbed her right shoulder with my hand and stroked her back

"We'll get through this mom, I promise, "I said

It was a moment I realized what I was planning on doing before. I was going to put my mother through hell again.

I need to fight this, not for my friends nor Nandini but for my own mother who loved me more than anything

NANDINI POV

I slept for a few hours and studied after that until I heard my mom's car pull over on the driveway.

She was later than usual and Abhimanyu and Rohan were both not home yet. Where is everybody?

MOM: "Hey habibti, how was your day?" she asked when she saw me

"It was okay" if she only know, "but where is everybody?" I asked

MOM: "Rohan is staying at a friend's house and I haven't heard from Abhimanyu since I saw him this morning. He told me that he was hanging out with a friend the whole day" She responded

We sat down, ate, and watched some tv afterward. It was nice to be with my mother alone for since. Normally Abhimanyu would annoy the hell out of me and I won't get the chance to sit down and relax

A few hours hour 'relax session' was interrupted by the doorbell. It was probably Abhimanyu who forgot his keys again

My mom wrapped her scarf quickly around her head and opened the door, I didn't bother because I was sure it was Abhimanyu

I didn't hear Abhimanyu walk in, he always made a scene so I knew that it wasn't him at the door. I also wrapped my scarf around my head and joined my mother.

I saw that she raised her hand and placed it on her mouth and was shocked about the guest has said

At that point I didn't look at who was standing in front of us, I was focused on my mom.

Until I finally faced the guest and listened to what they were saying

My legs began to shake until I had no control over my body anymore.

I fell on my knees and my heart just shattered into million pieces

"I'm sorry for your loss," they said
