I'm Only A Fool For You [Kai Havertz]

•Chapter 13

POV: Aurelia

I close the door and turn around. There is Claire sitting at the dining table,  looking like a mother ready to scold her child. "Hey, you have a lot to tell." No, I really don't want to do this I just want to go to sleep. This whole situation is frustrating. "Claire just drop it, I'm tired" I say as I take off my coat.

I immediately regret how I had said it. "Sorry I phrased it that way, but I'm really tired okay?" I sigh, already feeling guilty. "It's no big deal, can we do something tomorrow?" she asks out of the blue as she looks at me with hope in her eyes. "Well, tomorrow won't do, but the day after will" I reply, giving her a smile.

"I'm free, but only in the evening" she says. I don't have to work in the evening, so that's great. "Works for me" I smile and walk up the stairs. The reason I can't meet up with Claire tomorrow is because Kai and I have agreed to talk.

This whole fake dating thing really wasn't a smart idea of mine, I admit. But yes, everyone makes mistakes, but then you have me making really stupid ones. I crawl into bed and fall asleep immediately.

...

I get up and do everything as usual. I see a note hanging on the fridge. "I'm with Timo for the whole day, have fun xoxo'' says the note. I'm glad they get on so well. They really are a dream couple.

Kai has asked to meet me at his place, but since there's no-one here and Kai has never been to my place, I'll just invite him here. I send the message and he immediately responds that it is good for him.

So what do I do now? We recently did the groceries, so now I can make cookies. Finally! And I think Kai would like a cookie too.

I take all the supplies and look up a recipe. Then I put on some music to make the baking more fun. 'Hold back the river' by James Bay starts playing. This song carries so many memories. "Let's get started" I say to myself.

I'm halfway through the batter when the bell rings. Oh no. I check the clock and notice that I have lost track of time and that Kai is already here. "Wait a minute!" I call out as I wash my hands and walk towards the door.

"Hey" says Kai as he hugs me.

"Hey, come in"

"Sorry, did I interrupt you in something?" he asks as he takes off his shoes.

"No, I was just making some cookies" I reply and let a laugh escape.

"Oh, can I help with something?" He asks me. I think and there's not really anything I think of at first glance. Maybe one thing. "Yes, now that you mention it" as I lead him through the kitchen "Can you take the chocolate pieces? They are in the top cupboard" I point to a cupboard above his head, while I continue mixing the batter.

Suddenly I feel a prescence behind me and see Kai's hand placing the jar next to me. I feel his warm breath on my neck as he looks down at me.

"Looks good" he says from behind me and then takes a little batter on his finger and eats it. "It even tastes good" he says amazed in a playful tone.

"Kaiii" I whine and slap him gently on the chest. I turn around and am now caught against the sink between Kai. We have a playful staring contest for a moment, because I'm supposedly angry at him, but then we both burst into laughter. "Lia, there's some flower on your face" Kai says after a while. "Huh what, where?"

"There" he says as he wipes the flower away from my face. "Thanks" I turn back around with a red blush and take the jar of chocolate pieces.

Kai chuckles and now comes to stand next to me. "Can I do anything else, milady?" he asks teasingly. I give him a glare. "No not really- ah wait, maybe you can pick a song?"

"Sounds good"

"Wait-" I try to call out, but it's already too late, honestly, I should have expected this. Kai has put on a German rap song. I don't understand a word of it.

"Kai, please turn that off, it sounds terrible".

"That is not true, you have no taste and by the way, you said I could choose" he puts his hands in the air and lets a smile rest on his face. I roll my eyes playfully and start putting the cookies in the oven. "Whatever, just pick something decent." 

...

"Okay, I think it's time to talk" I nod towards the dining table and then sit down with Kai facing me. "Yeah, I'm sor-" he starts to apologise, but I interrupt him. "You don't have to say sorry, the fake-dating idea was mine, so I should have seen this coming. None of what happened is your fault an-"

"But I kissed you-"

"Okay, yes, but I kissed you back"

It was silent for a moment. "Do you regret it, the kiss?" he asked softly.

I thought about this for a moment. Did I ever regret this? To be honest, I kind of liked it.

"No, I don't regret it" is my answer. "Do you regret it?" I ask him as I look up from my hands to him. After a short silence, he replies: "Absolutely not" and then I see his wonderful smile appear.

"So, everything is okay between us?" I ask with a smile. "Of course, it's always been fine. Come here" he opens his arms and invites me for a hug. I slide my chair back and walk towards him. He takes me in a firm hug. I smell his scent, it's amazing.

We stayed like that for a while, moving in each other's arms to the music until the timer of the cookies went off.

"Duty calls!" I leave his arms and walk towards a drawer to get a kitchen towel. I grab a towel and take out the cookies, they look really good and they smell nice too.

"I guess I'll have to call you Chef Lia from now on" he says as he walks into the kitchen. I ruffle his hair as I pass by him to put the kitchen towel back.

We wait and talk for a while until the cookies have cooled down. Then we start eating them "They are really well made, you should bake more often" he says, taking another bite. "Thank you, here" I say as I slide a box of filled cookies forward. He starts to frown. "When you have training you can give them to the boys"

"Damn, you really are far too sweet".

"I know, I know" I say as I dramatically throw my hair back. This is what happens when you live with a dramatic best friend. "I take that back" he says as we both start laughing.
