Chapter 15

It was the start of a new school year. A start of a new semester. I was sitting in the library, writing down some notes on my notebook. Nag-aadvance reading na rin ako sa ibang subjects. Vacant namin ngayon dahil wala ang aming prof sa unang subject.

"Here."

Umupo si Gabriel sa katabi kong bakanteng upuan. Itinusok niya ang straw sa banana milk at ibinigay ito sa akin. Vacant din nila at wala rin silang prof, kaya pinuntahan niya ako at niyakad mag-library.

It's been months since Gabriel started courting me. Sa mga buwang iyon ay masaya kaming nagkakasama. Sa mga buwang ding iyon ay natanong ko sa kanya kung naiinip ba siya dahil hanggang ngayon ay di ko pa siya sinasagot. Sinabi niya na hindi naman daw siya nagmamadali at hindi rin niya ako pinipilit. Willing naman daw siya maghintay.

In the end, it's still my decision if I'm going to say yes to him or not.

Nilabas din ni Gabriel ang kanyang mga libro upang sabayan niya ako mag-aral. He was greeted by many of our schoolmates. Niyayakad pa nga siyang gumala pero sabi niya ay busy siya at may importanteng ginagawa.

"Niyayakad ka ng mga kaibigan mo. Hindi ka ba sasama?"

Umiling siya. "Nope. I'd rather spend my time with you than getting drunk and wasted in a club."

Gano'n ang lagi niyang sinasabi. He said that he's happier when he's with me. Minsan iniisip ko na nilalayo ko siya sa social life niya pero sabi niya ay hindi naman. He said that if ever his friends speak ill of me just like what Madison did, it would be better for him to cut ties with them.

Klinaro ko rin sa kanya na hindi pera ang dahilan kung bakit ko siya nagustuhan. Oo, kulang kami sa ganoon pero pagtiya-tiyagaan kong magtrabaho para magkaroon ng salapi at maka-ipon.

"Gabriel..."

"Yes, baby?"

I asked him a specific topic in Math. He grabbed my notes and scanned it. After reading it, he puts it down and start explaining it to me. He even wrote some important details on the side of my notes.

I can't believe he immediately understood the topic just by reading it! Kanina ko pa binabasa 'yon pero hindi ko ito ma-gets. No wonder he's always in the top of his class.

When the bell rang, we fixed our things to get on to the next class. Inihatid ako ni Gabriel sa room and kissed my forehead before heading to his class.

New room, new classmates, new professors, new subjects. I'm still not used in getting to different environments but I'm trying to adjust. Hindi naman dapat sila ang mag-adjust para sa akin.

I sat on a chair near the exit door. I miss Aria whenever she saves me a seat. Nakikipag-away pa siya sa mga kaklase namin noon para magkatabi kami lagi sa klase.

Sobrang lungkot ni Aria nang malaman niyang magkaiba na kami ng section. I promised her that I'm going to visit her and talk about what happened during the days we were apart.

As our prof went inside the room, biglang tumahimik ang buong klase. Kasunod ng aming prof ang isang babae. Usap-usapan din sa room na may transferee sa section namin.

Nakayuko ito na parang nahihiya itong humarap. She's small but her beauty stands out. A floral bracelet was hanging on her wrist.

I think I have seen her before...

Wait. Is she the girl I bumped into when we're in the hospital?

I squinted my eyes and realized that I am right! She really is beautiful the first time I saw her.
