"I wish you didn't have to go," Percy mumbled into Warren's shoulder, circling his arms around her waist.

"Me too," she sighed.

The two were a tangle of limbs atop Percy's bedspread, cozy sock covered feet and hoodie sleeves intertwined. Frost coated the window above the fire escape, chilly in spite of the rattling space heater.

Since returning from camp, and their quest, the two had been inseparable, because they knew it was only a matter of time before Warren had to leave for Nevada. Sure, they'd always spent the school year apart, but now it was different. Now the two had grown accustomed to living in the same city. And because now they were officially dating.

Not that it was much different than before. Warren still threatened Percy with bodily harm on a regular basis, and he still annoyed her to no end. They made Christmas cookies in Sally's kitchen and Kendra let Percy light their menorah. But the pair stole kisses beneath plastic mistletoe and again on the new year's countdown, which left them dizzy and giddy— not just from the champagne they'd sneaked sips of.

But now the two of them were here, on their last night together, and it seemed like the past few months had been much too short. Warren pulled her fingers through Percy's hair, toying with his newly acquired grey streak. The boy hummed in contentment.

"I like this," she pinched at the silver strands.

"Hm?"

"I like this," she said again. "Your grey hairs."

"Weirdo," Percy replied sleepily.

Warren kicked his shin, rousing him awake. "I'm not weird!"

"Ow, hey!" He fought back a smile. "See, that's not what normal people do. Violence is never the answer."

"You've literally stabbed my dad, Percy. Sometimes it's the answer."

"Okay, that's fair." He looked over at Warren, eyeing the white patch by her temple. Icy locks tumbled into ebony, offsetting the tan of her skin. "Actually, I see what you mean. It looks kind of pretty."

"You think?"

"Yeah. Very foxy grandma."

"Don't make me kick you again, Jackson."

Percy laughed, pulling Warren closer. "How about you lay here for a while instead?"

She glanced at the clock on his bedside table and frowned. "My flight leaves at eleven. I can't stay much longer."

"Mmm just five more minutes," Percy replied, squeezing his arms tighter and rolling Warren onto his stomach.

"Perce!" she squealed, a surprised and uncharacteristic giggle escaping her lips.
