The masquerade was today, along with the chasse aux partenaires, which was the exigence of Pansy, Daphne, and Ginny kicking Draco out of the dorm so that they could all get ready together.

Ginny and Daphne were all done with getting ready, with Ginny in a mesmerizing coral dress that complimented her exquisite red hair and Daphne in a velvet blue dress that brought out her eyes.

They were absolutely stunning, and that was an understatement. Hermione didn't think she could ever say a word that could illustrate their beauty.

That left Pansy and Hermione, both who were getting their makeup and hair done before putting on their dresses.

"Oh Merlin! I am sorry, Hermione. It got a bit tang—" Daphne fretted over Hermione, worried that she pulled too hard on Hermione's hair.

But Hermione merely smiled as she spoke. "Daph, it's okay. I know my hair is hard to deal with."

A snort from Ginny followed this, and Hermione glared at her pointedly as Pansy remarked, "Hard is an understatement."

Hermione turned her glare at Pansy, but Pansy simply smirked and blew a kiss to Hermione before saying, "Thank you for loving me even with all of my bitchiness."

Hermione smiled and was about to respond before something crossed her mind.

This sounds way too much like a goodbye...or something in that sense.

"You make it sound like it's a goodbye." She voiced out her thoughts.

"School is ending in a week or so, so we probably won't see each other that often." Pansy explained, looking pained as she did so, as if she hated that what she was saying was true.

True only if they didn't do something about it.

"We can always set up a weekly meeting. We don't have to make this week the last week we spend together. You guys are people that would last a lifetime in my life, and I am not giving up on that easily." Hermione spoke firmly. She was resigned to the fact that the school year was ending, but not to the fact that those amazing friendships that she had made this year were ending as well.

Daphne's face lit up at what Hermione said. "That sounds wonderful! We should do that! I am not ready to stop talking to you guys, you have all made this year amazing!"

Ginny nodded her agreement as she spoke. "I am not ready to stop messing with you guys."

Pansy smirked at that. "And I am not ready to stop being a bitch towards you guys."

They all laughed at that, and Hermione relished in that feeling; the feeling of being lightheaded and above the clouds and sinking on cold fresh sheets while hugging cold pillows, the feeling of extra tightened happiness that licked at her senses and made her feel everything at once.

That feeling that was a constant reminder of Draco.

Sooner other than later, they had to stop laughing and continue getting ready. Ginny finished Pansy's makeup and hair before Daphne finished, giving Pansy enough time to slip into her daring black dress that made her look like a goddess. The dress was anything but modest, and Pansy was anything but simple.

"Pansy, you look ethereal!" Hermione exclaimed when Daphne finally finished working on her hair and let her look over Pansy's almost finished look.
