(Y/n)'s POV

The reverberating noise and never-ending hype seemed to be everyone's intoxication. Loud cheers drowned out everything else, engulfing the skaters in a world of fun and excitement.

Kyle's eyes found mine, a smirk cocked on his face. Once Langa arrived and took his place beside him, Reki and I hurried to the front. Yuu had followed us, begrudgingly going forward towards Kyle.

"Here, the gloves and skate shoes you ordered," exclaimed Yuu.
"Thanks man," replied Kyle.
"Oi Yuu, you made stuff for him?" Reki asked.
"He ordered it. I couldn't just decline it when I had no good reason to."
"Hey," Joe greeted.
"You guys came too?"
"We wouldn't want to miss this," said Cherry.

I glanced at Kyle, who simply winked as if we were secret lovers bound for eternity. My hand came to give Langa's a reassuring squeeze before we stood back as the countdown began.

"Oi dude, I heard that the foreigner's super good."
"There's no way he could beat Snow!"
"Didn't you hear what Cherry said? They came here to watch. He must be good."

The lights flashed green. Langa and Kyle headed off without wasting a single second. A low whistle left Joe's lips as Kyle flawlessly pulled ahead, easing around corners as if he were only breathing.

Langa didn't let that bother him, instead using the small hill to perform another of his snowboarding tricks. He landed beside Kyle, where the latter was smirking, finding it amusing that Langa had created a mixture of two different sports.

Kyle immediately flipped onto his hands and spun as if he was breakdancing, capturing everyone's attention in a hypnotic trance. Our blue-haired friend hurriedly swerved onto the curved hill to avoid getting hit by his legs.

"Huh...you're actually quite good," commented Kyle.
"That trick that you did just now...how?" Langa began.
"Are you complimenting me? I'm flattered."

The two separated to avoid the rock in the middle of the path. Both were accelerating even faster than before, aiming to get ahead of one another. Kyle, however, still had the advantage of speed due to his experience.

"Is that guy a monster?" Joe muttered.
"Like you can say anything," Shadow replied.
"He's got excellent posture, steady feet as if he were only walking...and a plethora of tricks up his sleeve," said Cherry.
"Ne (Y/n), who would win - you or him?" Miya asked.
"I'm...not sure."

Kyle performed various tricks, one of which being a backside heelflip, seeming to enjoy the thrill of riding the wind...as my brother had once. He suddenly curved around a corner, using his hands to flip himself over the jutting rock before landing on the board that had continued moving.

Langa didn't let him take all the attention. He pushed off the side of the path, executing an indy grab whilst falling to the street below. Now he was in the lead but Kyle would catch up in no time at all.

"Come on," Reki whispered.

I startled as Joe hauled me on behind Cherry on his motorbike.

"We're going to the abandoned factory," Joe said.

My arms immediately wrapped around Cherry's waist as he took off. Using one hand to hold my phone in order to watch the beef, I tightened my grip on Cherry as he swerved to avoid people.

"Kyle's great at parkour. That's why his moves are so powerful."
"Miss (Y/n), would you like a comparison of his skills against yours?" Carla asked.
"Eh? What? Nah, don't do that."
"You're surrounded by a bunch of crazy skaters," Cherry murmured.
"With you being one of those said skaters."

I rushed to the finish line as Kyle and Langa appeared, both just entering the abandoned factory. The two were neck-to-neck, neither straying from the path until Kyle decided to slide off the side.

He intended to use the broken pillars as a ramp to increase his speed. Langa didn't waste another second and slid off to the opposite side, where there was a metal pillar being held by wires attached to the ceiling.

"They're both insane!"
"Damn, that foreigner's reckless!"
"This is so exciting!"

Kyle left the ramp as soon as Langa made the jump from the suspended pillar. They were both inching closer to the finish line. The crowds grew quiet in those few seconds it took before a winner was decided.

A wide grin spread across my face before Reki ran forward to catch Langa in a bone-crushing hug. He won. He actually won. Yuu gripped my hand as we watched the crowds cheer.

"Guess this is goodbye," said Kyle.
"You're making it sound like we're never gonna see each other again. You just lost a match. Stop being dramatic."
"I lost you."
"...you never had me in the first place."

Langa surreptitiously slipped his hand into mine, most likely only as an act to fool Kyle. Reki flashed a quick wink, making it clear that he had told Langa to do this.

"See ya later, (Y/n)."

He quietly took his leave with nothing but a defeated smile he revealed only to Langa and I before we lost him to the crowds. I turned to Langa, congratulating him on his win.

"You did amazing! That was such a sick beef!"
"Thanks," he replied.
"That kid had some crazy skills," commented Joe.
"He would've been great on a national team, yet you beat him," Miya said.

Yuu tugged at my other hand, nodding at a girl who was hiding beneath a hood. She had been there that day, when she sent her guards after us. I let go of Langa's hand, taking a few steps forward only to be halted by Ruka.

"Why are you in such a hurry?" she questioned.
"Mind your own business."
"Will you really want to leave so quickly knowing I'll harm your friends if you do?"
"And why do you think we'd feel threatened by a whining child?" Cherry retorted.
"Leave her alone. She's already suffered enough without your commentary," said Reki.
"Oh, the leftover. You still hanging around these skaters who are out of your league?"

I closed the gap between us, grabbing her shirt and shoving her against the wall. She simply sported a cruel smirk.

"Make fun of me all you want but do not insult my friends."
"Hmph, are you willing to die for them then?" she mocked.
