Boston, Massachusetts.

-Jaemin's POV-

The life of a college student is hard, but it becomes more challenging for criminology students. The most bizarre cases and examples are regular in our lessons; teachers believe it is the best for our professional career. Regardless of my understanding, I also think they exceed their limits from time to time. However, I'm proud that I chose to study for this degree, even though it might gross me out. Honestly, I decided to study criminology because life guided my devotion to something that would help me get through my demons. I've reached the highest score in the entire criminology department, and I resolved one case without the authority's intervention. I suppose my reputation can get neglected due to those facts. Yet, another student from a different department crushes down anybody's existence inside the institute.

Fortunately, I didn't walk alone throughout these years. My loyal and kind friend Huang Renjun has been by my side this entire time. After solving our first case together, we decided to study for the same degree and apply for the same institute. Ever since we were children, we stuck together like two chewing gums. And honestly, I couldn't feel more grateful for his presence during this time; beyond all, we went through hell and back since a young age.

*Present days. At Boston Institute of Social Sciences*

Currently, Renjun and I are going out of the classroom. The lesson ended, and now it's time to go to the next class. Several students are walking through the hallways, most of them are my grade's seniors, but there are people from different departments.

-Why are you looking around? Did the professor's lesson is stuck in your head? – Renjun questioned before elbowing my side, immediately getting my attention back.

-No! Why would I think there's a psychopath between us? I don't have enough evidence to deduce that yet, Renjun. – I complained while shaking my head gently.

-So, are you searching for Mr. Lee? – Renjun teased, not having mercy on me.

-Renjun, don't call him "Mr." sounds creepy. Oh! And keep your mouth shut! – I said, slightly annoyed.

-Why? – Renjun asked, confused.

-Because when you say someone's name, you commonly summon them, and—

I couldn't finish my sentence since Lee Jeno and his partner, Lee Donghyuck, walked right beside us. My eyes couldn't divert from his presence; I found myself attracted to him like a magnet.

I don't know my reasons, but my feelings for Lee Jeno appeared in my second year of college. We are strangers; we have never crossed words before, and he's an absolute jerk. He believes nobody can speak to him; he's solemn, a party popper, and not kind at all. Hence, it sounds wrong whenever I say that I like Lee Jeno. I suppose I'm like those other girls drooling for a piece of "Mr. Lee."

-Jaemin! – Renjun elbowed my side, causing my senses to return. I subtly blinked my eyes before looking at Renjun. -Man! Do you still like Lee Jeno? – My friend worriedly asked.

I scoffed at Renjun's words before laughing awkwardly. Then, I quickly glanced behind me, noticing Jeno leaving with his friend. -No! – I answered, making Renjun release a long sigh.

-Jaemin, you said that Lee Jeno was something from yesterday. What happened? – Renjun asked, looking conflicted.

-Honestly, I try my best to look away, but I can't. – I admitted before taking a deep breath, shortly glancing at Renjun with puppy eyes. -Renjun, what do I do? – I questioned. Renjun slightly chuckled at my expression before patting my head.

-First, we need to get you something to do. And second, we need to hurry up and get to class. – Renjun told me, which I nodded for in response. Then, Renjun took my arm and guided me to our next classroom. I chuckled while following him, acting like a child while Renjun continued to take me with him.

-Hey, Jae, I only want the best for you. Alright? – Renjun told me while glancing back. I hummed in response before smiling at my friend.

-I know you worry, Jun! But rest assured, this criminologist won't fall for the lawyer's irresistible attractiveness. – I replied, making a few jokes between words. Yet, Renjun didn't seem to enjoy them, causing him to hit my arm. I complained before snickering, shortly releasing a short sigh. -You don't have to worry, okay? Lee Jeno is only a platonic love, nothing else. – I assured Renjun, but he only shook his head before we reached the classroom. Then, he opened the door and looked at me.

-Try to convince yourself, not me, Jaemin. – Renjun spoke, his words making my sigh divert from him. After all, I understand the reasoning behind his words; I'm merely fooling myself of an idea that won't happen.

-You are right. Lee Jeno is only a stranger, and he won't notice me since he's a jerk. – I mentioned. My words made Renjun chuckle, and then, he held my shoulder and smiled to comfort me. Shortly, we got inside the classroom and took our places inside. We sat next to each other as I kept replaying Jeno's image inside my head.

Lee Jeno is only a fictional character in everyone's eyes. He's too good to be authentic, but at the same time, too cruel to be with someone. I suppose he's an interesting person with a complex personality. However, I believe there's a reason for his behavior. So, after everything I've suffered, I wonder what made him so cold and unapproachable.

-Na Jaemin? – I heard the teacher say my name, causing me to wake up from my world. Immediately, I raised my hand and answered.

-Here! – I spoke before releasing a long sigh, shortly taking out my notebook.

I didn't notice when the rest of the class arrived.

It surprised me how soon the class began; however, I tried to act as if nothing was bothering me. Therefore, I placed my supplies on the desk before looking to the front, finally paying attention to the lesson.

You can think about Jeno later, Jaemin. But right now, you have to concentrate.

I nodded at my thoughts before intently hearing the teacher's voice.
