Act 2 ch 7

"Wow, busy today" Victoria says walking into Luke's.

"Luke advertising or something?" Lorelai asks. "He gets good word of mouth" Rory says as they sit down.

"Well then I guess we'll just have to start spreading bad word of mouth so we can always have a table" Victoria suggests. "Oooh good idea" Lorelai agrees. "Well that would be wrong, but sure" Rory gives in.

"Vermin?" Victoria suggests.

"Or no potable water" Lorelai says. "Or no potable vermin" Rory suggests.

"That would scare them away, or confuse them away. Either one works" Victoria replies. "It's so weird seeing him talking like that" Lorelai says seeing Luke laugh with a costumer. "Like what?" Rory asks.

"Just all friendly, he's usually only good for a quick couple of gruff monosyllables and then he's off" Lorelai explains.

"He is the master of the monosyllable" Victoria agrees. "He never flirts with any of the women, do you notice that?" Lorelai points out.

"He's flirted with you numerous times" Rory tells her. "Don't start" Lorelai denies. "Hey flirt with him now, we need coffee" Victoria says.

"Oh, Luke. We're just dying for some refreshments" Lorelai calls to him in a fake Souther accent.

"Keep your pants on" Luke yells back. "Hmm, he can turn it off and on so fast" Lorelai says.

"Hey, we found a CD under the front seat of our car. Did you uh lose one?" Rory asks her. "Not that I know of but I'm kind of sloppy with them" Lorelai answers. "So you didn't hide it?" Victoria asks.

"Why would I hide a CD?" Lorelai answers with a question.

"I don't know, Bay City Rollers" Rory says. "That's not a Bay City Rollers CD" Lorelai tells her.

"How do you know?" Victoria asks. "Because I know what's not hidden under that seat" Lorelai answers. "Because you know that Barry Manilow is under that seat" Rory says as Luke walks over with coffee.

"Where's Barry Manilow?" he asks them.

"Under mom's seat" Victoria answers. "Alright I confess, I was hiding Barry Manilow" Lorelai admits.

"You confess" Rory says. "But he was very big when I was very small and it's the live version where he does a medley of all the commercial jingles he's written" Lorelai defends herself. "Don't worry everyone's allowed a guilty pleasure every now and again" Victoria tells her.

"Very diplomatic from the girl who had the Bryan Adams poster above her bed for two years" Lorelai responds.

"Fink" Victoria says. "Do you have a guilty pleasure Luke?" Lorelai asks Luke.

"Nah" he answers. "Are you into music?" Victoria asks. "Sure" he nods.

"Monosyllabic man strikes again" Lorelai says.

"We'll have three muffins please" Rory orders for all of them. "You got it" Like says walking away.

"Do you think he's dated anyone since Rachel?" Victoria asks quietly so he couldn't hear. "I don't know" Rory answers. "Where would he meet anyone?" Victoria asks.

"You're right, he's always either here or in his apartment" Rory says.

"Maybe he has a secret life" Lorelai suggests. "Maybe he's got a little chippy stowed away in mount Pilot" Victoria jokes.

"Well we'll know eventually" Rory laughs. "I say he's a bachelor for life" Lorelai says.

"I say there's someone for everyone" Victoria disagrees before Rory starts laughing again. "What?" Lorelai asks her. "Oh, Barry Manilow" Rory says.
