Chapter 28 - Celeb-Crush

Ava

Last night after the party, I was too tired from the jetlag to even go anywhere else, so I ended up sleeping like a panda. However, today was a brand new day, and I wanted to enjoy it to the fullest.

"Ava, do you want to visit the Eiffel Tower today or tomorrow?" Ace asked me when we were having breakfast together.

"Let's go today. We can do more stuff tomorrow then," I said with excitement.

He gave me a curt nod. "We will go in the evening since that's the best time to have a great view. We can have dinner there as well."

"Then, what are the plans until then?"

I couldn't wait till evening. Finally, I would be standing in the Eiffel Tower! It was my dream to be there. I wished the daytime would pass sooner.

"We can go to the bookstore, and later, I will take you somewhere for lunch. There's a surprise waiting for you, so don't worry, your time will fly by after lunch."

I furrowed my brows. "What surprise?"

"If I tell you, how is that a surprise, Ava?"

I sighed, knowing it was pointless to even argue with him about this. "Anyway, I heard there's a really nice shopping mall here. Can we go there as well before we go to the bookstore?"

"Carrousel du Louvre? Sure, let's go there now."

Once we were done with breakfast, Ace paid the bill and we left the restaurant. The rented car drove us to the shopping mall.

I scanned the mall and couldn't help but let a gasp escape my lips seeing the beauty of the mall. The decoration was really attractive. Even though I had visited so many countries over the years, each of their beauty always managed to make me awestruck.

"Which shop do you want to go to first?" Ace asked me.

"Let's go to the jewelry shop. Aunt Chloe will be getting married soon, and I want to get her the perfect gift, so let's go there first," I suggested.

Ace seemed to like the idea, so we made our way to the store.

"You choose while I check something on that section," he informed me and walked to another corner of the jewelry shop. It confused me for a while as to why he was going there. He wasn't that into accessories. Maybe he wanted to explore more collections and see if there was anything fitting to go along with the exclusive dresses from his company. Who knew how businessmen's minds worked?

Anyway, not wanting to invade his privacy, I kept examining the diamond sets. All of them were extremely pretty, but I knew Aunt Chloe's choice. We had gone shopping many times, and I had carefully observed the type of jewelry she wore. I would rather give her something that she could wear regularly than put it in her drawer to collect dust. Therefore, I chose one according to her regular taste.

"Are you done choosing?" Ace asked from behind, making me jump a little at the sudden voice.

I placed a hand over my chest and sighed. "Yes, and could you not scare me like that again?"

"Sorry," he mumbled and checked the set I chose. "This is beautiful. She will love it. Let's take this." The store clerk packed the set, and Ace paid the bill before we left the store.

After that, we went to the Sunglass Hut, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel stores as well. We brought plenty of things for ourselves and souvenirs for others.

Our next destination was the Shakespeare and Company bookstore.

"My dream zone!" I mumbled. "You are my peaceful place."

"Drama queen," I heard Ace mutter, earning a glare from me. "Calm down, you are at your peaceful place. No need to attack me," he reminded me as if I was a feral animal, which made me narrow my eyes even more. "Sorry, just go explore the books you find more interesting than me," he said cutely.

"Just so you know, I think you are more interesting." I winked at him and didn't wait for his reply before running off to check the books that I was going to purchase. However, in between checking the books, I couldn't help but occasionally glance at Ace who was boredly reading random book titles. He was doing so much for me. He was always so caring and sweet all the time, so how could I never feel this love for him before?

It was maybe because I never wanted to view him as more than a friend. Because when I first met Ace, it wasn't a girlfriend he needed, he needed a confidant to lend him a shoulder and share his burdens with. That's why I put aside everything I felt for him and focused on being his friend. But he was now strong. He no longer needed me as his rock, and even if he did, I would always be there for him. I would always remain his best friend, but now, I was his wife and in madly love with him.

"Hurry. I told you there's a surprise for you. Let's go to the restaurant to have lunch once we are done buying books for you," Ace reminded me.

"Why don't you read books?" I asked him all of a sudden.

"You know the answer, Ava. I don't have time for this. Spending whole day reading numbers and data, you think I could have any interest in reading more?"

He had a point.

"Okay, I have decided to buy these books." I picked up the stack of books, and immediately, he took half of it—more than half—in his hand. He knew if he had taken the entire stack from my hand, I would argue with him. Still, he took more than half, always trying to lessen my burden.

I didn't say anything as we went to the cash counter, carrying the heavy books with us. Once the payment was done, we headed to the restaurant for lunch.

I wonder what surprise Ace wanted to give me. I almost couldn't sit still during the whole car ride, too excited about the surprise. Ace always had the best surprises.

As soon as we stepped into the restaurant and walked to our table, I couldn't help but gasp when my eyes fell on a handsome brunette, "Oh my God, Vean Joseph?"

Vean Joseph, one of the most famous actors in Hollywood, was sitting at the table Ace had reserved for us. He was my celebrity crush ever since he started his career, which was when he was only sixteen and I was thirteen at that time. My crush on him never faded as his poster was still hanging in my and Ace's bedroom just until a few days ago.

"Surprise," Ace whispered into my ear. "I know it was your dream to meet your celeb-crush, but you didn't dare to meet Vean, even though you could because you were afraid to embarrass yourself in front of him by fainting in overloaded happiness. But don't worry about that. He's my friend, so he wouldn't mind however you react. I called him to meet us when he told me that he was here for a shoot."

I snapped my head at Ace in shock. "Why did I never know about that?"

"Because it would get weird for you to crush on my friend."

Well, that made sense, but still, he should have told me. Never mind that. Ace was too sweet for doing this. I still didn't believe my eyes that Vean Joseph was standing and smiling at me. I might just faint at this very moment. But I was more swept off my feet at the idea of Ace remembering every small detail about me. How could he not love me? Of course, he loved me. I just had to be the one to take the first step.

"Nice to finally meet you, Ava," Vean said, stretching his hand to shake with me, which I did gladly. I was meeting and touching the hand of my celeb-crush in person. This was a dream. It had to be. "Ace told me a lot about you. I have always wanted to meet you, but Ace told me that you weren't ready to meet me yet. So finally, you are ready to meet me."

"Before I faint, Ace, click my picture with Vean," I mumbled, having a hard time controlling my full-blown grin, making the two men laugh.
