WHEN JOHNATHAN DROPPED HER OFF, SAM SPOTTED DUSTIN WAITING ON HER.
"God, took you long enough." He ushered her around the house as she waved to the Byers boy. "What we're you doing anyway?"
"Oh you know, hitting Harrington with my skateboard." Sam shrugged nonchalantly before a smile broke out on her face. The Henderson siblings shared a smile.
"Awesome." The curly haired boy chuckled.

"You guys!" Dustin yelled as he and Sam rushed to the others. "Sam hit Steve!"
"Really?" Lucas smiled in excitement, because none of them liked The King of Hawkins very much.
Sam nodded. "Broke my board too."
"Well, we only have a few hours. How are you gonna get around?" Mike pointed out with a deadpanned face.
"Uh, Dustin!" She turned to her brother. "I'll pedal, you sit behind me?"
The boy groaned but held the bike out for her anyway. "Fine."

AFTER A WHILE, RIDING BIKES WAS TOO MUCH. Sam sighed with relief when she touched down on the ground, stretching out her legs. Mike and Eleven walked at the front side by side. Lucas and Dustin wandered the same way a few feet back, and Sam walked behind them with her hands in her jacket pockets.
The Henderson girl watched the two at the very front talking together. "That's adorable." She muttered.
"What?" Lucas and Dustin looked back.
"Oh, come on. Are you telling me you don't think he likes her?" Sam motioned to the two.
"No, he definitely does. He just won't admit it." Lucas sighed.
"Well, what's so wrong with it? She's cute." Sam smiled with a small shrug.
"She's a freak, that's what." Lucas stated.
"Well, so am I." The blonde girl piped in, getting prepared to teach these boys a lesson.
"Are not." Dustin jumped in quickly.
"Yeah. At school, everyone calls me a freak, or a loner, or a weirdo." Sam explained. "Some even call me queer and a fairy."
"Yeah, but that's at school." Lucas shook his head.
"So?" Sam shrugged making the boys look back in confusion. "Listen, it's all the same. Just people who don't know each other making assumption based on what they see. People at school don't see how I am with you guys, or when I'm talking about something I like. Just like how you don't know anything about El." Sam explained. Lucas scoffed.
"Listen, Lucas. Just listen." Sam told him. "Okay, so we don't know a lot about her. She could have been abused or kidnapped or something, that's why she doesn't know as much as we do. Maybe her hair is short so people think she's a boy and will get them off her trail. Maybe she's used to rob places. You see, we just don't know." The Henderson girl shrugged. "She could be our key to finding Will, so we need to make sure she's comfortable and safe, or else she might use those powers of hers to do something worse than closing a door or making a toy fly."
The boys thought about it, not saying much.
"Just think about it." She smiled kindly.

THE GROUP MADE IT TO THEIR DESTINATION BY THE TIME THE SKY GREW DARK. Unfortunately, Eleven had led them all the way back to Will's house.
"Here." The girl said confidently.
"Yeah, this is where Will lives." Mike nodded along, waiting for the girl to continue.
"Hiding." She reminded.
"No, no. This is where he lives. He's missing from here, understand?" Mike explained calmly.
"What are we doing here?" Lucas sighed.
"She said he's hiding here." Mike shrugged.
"Uhm...no!" Lucas looked around.
"I swear, if we just walked all the way out here for nothing-" Dustin started.
"That's exactly what we did. I told you she didn't know what the hell she was talking about!" Lucas shouted.
"Why did you bring us here?" Mike looked at El expectingly. She tried to come up with the words to explain.
"Mike, don't waist your time with her." Lucas rolled his eyes.
"Hey, come on. Let her explain." Sam sighed.
"Yeah, I mean, what do you want to do then, Lucas?" Mike asked rhetorically.
"Call the cops, like we should have done yesterday!" Lucas immediately stated.
"We are not calling the cops." Mike put his foot down. Eleven glanced at the fighting boys with a stressed face.
"Hey guys." Dustin's voice was barely audible over the yelling.
"What other choice do we have?" Lucas ignored the other people. Dustin walked forward. "Guys!"
Finally, the bickering stopped and the others walked to the boy. What they saw was frightening. Police cars and an ambulance drove by at a rapid speed.
"Will." Mike mumbled before the boys went to get their bikes. Sam just started running.
"Sam! Sam, wait up!" Dustin yelled. She ignored him and followed the cars quickly.
The boys and El caught up with her quickly as she just ran and ran.

The party ended up at the shore of the quarry. Sam was out of breath when she stopped behind an ambulance. The boys ran up behind her and watched.
The paramedics pulled a body from the water and Sam saw Hopper walking away.
"It's not Will. It can't be." Mike shook his head in disbelief.
"It's Will." Lucas sighed, unshed tears welling in his eyes. "It's really Will."
They walked to the back of the ambulance, out of view from the water. Sam tried her damndest to not cry, not when these kids needed her strong.
"Mike?" El placed her hand on the boys shoulder, only for him to slap her away.
"'Mike'? 'Mike' what?" The Wheeler boy grew angry. "You were supposed to help us find him alive. You said he was alive! Why did you lie to us? What's wrong with you? What is wrong with you?"
"Michael..." Sam tried to stop the boy from leaving, but he just stormed off.
"Mike, come on. Don't do this, man." Lucas sniffed.
"Mike, where are you going? Mike!" Dustin called as the Wheeler boy jumped on his bike and road away.
The three kids looked to Sam for help. "Just, let him go." She sniffed back tears. "Come here." She held her arms open and kneeled down. Lucas and Dustin immediately rushed to her embrace, but El just stood, tears in her eyes.
"Come on, El." Sam motioned and the girl practically ran for the comfort.
"It's okay. It'll all be okay." Sam mumbled as the tears fell from her eyes silently. "It's okay. We'll be okay. I got you guys, I got you." She held them tightly. Her brothers, and her sister. Her family.
