SNEAKING INTO THE WHEELER HOUSE, SAM AND JOHNNY TRIED THEIR BEST TO COMFORT NANCE. Sam sat on the ground, cross legged, in front of Nancy's bed while Johnathan sat next to the girl. He had grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around her shoulders, slowly rubbing circles on her back. The Henderson girl held Nancy's dirty hand for comfort as she dealt with the experience.
After a while of silence, Nancy stood. "I'm gonna take a shower. I feel...gross."
"Yeah, yeah of course." Johnathan slid over to make her room. Once she left, Johnathan and Sam looked at each other.
"God, I wish she hadn't gone through that." Sam ran a hand through her tangled hair.
"Yeah." Johnathan dug around the girls closet, pulling out a sleeping bag. He tossed it out and soon enough the door opened and closed quickly.
"Better?" Johnathan asked quietly.
"Yeah." Nancy nodded her head rapidly.
"Uh, is this okay? I just found it in the closet." The Byers boy stood, glancing at the makeshift bed he had. "I can go home. I-I...I just figured-"
"Yeah, no. I..." Nancy trailed off. "I don't wanna be alone."Johnathan just nodded.
"Do you?" Nancy asked, unsure.
"No. Uh...no." The teen shook his head. Sam cleared her throat awkwardly.
"I gotta go. I was supposed to get Dustin home, like, an hour ago." She glanced at the clock on Nancy's desk. "Are you two gonna be okay?"
"Yeah." They both nodded awkwardly.
"Okay, call me if you think of anything, okay?" Sam opened Nancy's window and crawled out. She smiled softly before closing it after her.
Dropping down to the manicured lawn quietly, Sam glanced around before darting through the street. She made it back home 15 minutes later, panting and sweating way more than before. Slowly, Sam creaked the door open and tip toed inside. She made it to her room with no fuss.
Sighing, Sam flicked on her light. There, Dustin sat waiting at her desk. The girl jumped out of her skin.
"Dustin! What the hell are you doing in here?" She closed the door and dropped her bag.
"Where the hell have you been?" Dustin countered.
"I was with Johnny and Nance." She whispered. Then, she noticed something. Dustin wasn't his usual bouncy self, even though he tried to hide it. "Dust? What's wrong?" Sam kneeled down in front of him, her hands grabbing his gently.
"It's Lucas." The boy sighed, his facade falling. "We figured something out...our compasses were wrong. We tried to follow them, but Eleven was messing with them with her powers. Mike and Lucas got into a fight, and El ended up throwing him across the junkyard. Again, with her mind. Lucas walked off, then El just...disappeared."
"Disappeared?" Sam repeated.
"Yeah. She was there, then she was gone." Dustin sighed. "We tried calling for her, but..."
"It's okay." Sam sat up and pulled her brother to her, wrapping him into a tight hug. "We can talk to Lucas tomorrow and go find her after, okay?" He nodded into her shoulder, saying nothing more.

THE NEXT DAY, THE HENDERSONS RODE THEIR BIKES TO THE WHEELER HOUSE.
"I just...I can't believe she didn't come back." Mike sighed, staring at the destroyed fort Eleven would stay in.
"She's gotta be close, Mike. We'll find her." Sam tried to calm the pacing boy.
"She said it wasn't safe. She just messed up the compasses because she wanted to protect us. She didn't betray us." The raven haired boy boy ranted.
"Mike, calm down." Dustin tried to stop his friend, but he obviously wasn't having any of it.
"I shouldn't have yelled at her. I never should have done that." Mike ignored them both.
"Mike, this isn't your fault." The Henderson boy huffed in annoyance.
"Yeah, it's Lucas'." Mike finally acknowledged them.
"Not really." Sam crossed her arms and shrugged. Mike stopped and turned to her.
"It's not his fault?" He repeated enraged.
"No." Sam shook her head.
"So, your saying he wasn't way out of line?" Mike challenged.
"Sure he was, but so we're you." The Henderson girl stayed calm.
"What?" Mike seethed.
"And so was Eleven." Dustin added swiftly.
"Oh, give me a break." The Wheeler boy scoffed.
"No, Mike, you give me a break." Dustin yelled, storming into Mikes personal space. "All three of you were being a bunch of little assholes! I was the only reasonable one. But the bottom line is...you punched first."
"You know the rule, Michael. You drew first blood." Sam tilted her head slightly.
"No. No way! I'm not shaking his hand." Mike dismissed quickly.
"You're shaking his hand." Dustin countered.
"No, I'm not."
"This isn't a discussion. This is the rule of law. Obey...or be banished from the party. Do you wanna be banished?" The curly haired boy threatened.
"No." Mike said obviously.
"Good." The Henderson siblings said simultaneously. Dustin pulled on his jacket, gently handing Sam her bag.
"Where you are guys going?" Mike asked stupidly.
"Where do you think?" Sam pulled the straps of her bag over her shoulders.
"We're going to get Lucas, then we're going to find Eleven." Dustin tossed Mike his bag.
