Sano Mizuki P.O.V.

"The line was insane" Ran says as he sits down beside me, just as I close the lid of my bento. "Why don't you bring your own bento?" I ask, as Ran opens the cafeteria bought bento. Ran chuckles. "My mother can't cook very well" he says amused. "Then make your own" I say. "I can't cook much either" Ran answers as he starts eating. "What did you have?" He asks. "Hmm some onigiri, pickled cucumber with sesame seeds and tempura vegetables" I say. "Did you make it yourself?" Ran asks. "My older brother did" I answer, putting my bento in my bag. "Does he always?" Ran asks, while eating. "Sometimes. Sometimes my grandfather does and sometimes I make it myself" I answer, looking at Ran curiously. "Don't you ever buy lunch?" Ran asks amused. "Sometimes but not often" I say. Curiously I look up at Ran, but he's already focused on his lunch. Hesitantly I reach over and touch his hair. He immediately looks at me amused. I blush embarrassed. "Y-you need to redo your roots" I mumble. Ran chuckles. "I'm thinking of growing them out, what do you think?" He asks. I tilt my head slightly, trying to visualize it. "So dye it back to black?" I ask. "I'm not going to dye it again. Just grow the roots and then I'll see" he says. "It'll be different" I say. "I like different" Ran says amused. I chuckle. "Well, then go for it" I say. "Have you thought about changing your hair?" Ran asks, stroking my hair behind my ear. When I feel his fingertips softly against my ear I feel a small shock, making me automatically pull my head back. Ran apparently felt it as well as he grins delighted. "N-never really thought about it" I mumble. Ran takes the ends of my hair in his fingertips. "I think a bright color would suit you. And if you're afraid to make such a change, some highlights maybe" he says. "What is wrong with my hair?" I ask, taking some ends between my finger tips as well. "Nothing is wrong with it" Ran says, letting go of my hair. "You don't like change much, do you?" He asks. "I'm fine with changes" I answer. "I just don't know if anything is else would look good on me" I add. "I think it would" Ran says. "I'll think about it" I mumble, looking at my hair.

"Do you think I need to change my hair?" I ask. "What is wrong with your hair?" Shinichiro asks. "Nothing is wrong with it. Haitani-kun said it might look good" I say softly. Shinichiro turns toward me. He looks at me for a bit then reaches over and softly stroke my hair. "It might" he says. "But I like your natural hair" Shinichiro says, he then smiles and strokes my hair behind my ear. "You shouldn't change it because someone else tells you to" he says, pulling his hand back. "I didn't say I was going to change it, or that he told me to do it. I was just wondering" I mumble. "Is that so?" Shinichiro asks with an amused smile on his lips. "You're a timid girl, Mizuki. A bold color wouldn't suit you. If you want to you could start with a small change, like a haircut and see how it feels" Shinichiro says. I don't respond and Shinichiro turns back to the scooter he was working on. The same one he told me he would give to me as soon as it's finished. "Niisan..." I say hesitantly. "Do you think someone will fall in love with me? If I change my hair?" I ask. Shinichiro looks at me surprised. "I think someone will fall in love with you, whether you change your hair or not." Shinichiro says. "Or anything in your appearance for that matter" he adds.  I don't respond. "Hey..there's no reason for you to be insecure Mizuki. You're a beautiful girl" Shinichiro says. "You're supposed to say that" I sigh, looking at my brother. He smiles encouraging. "I'm not just saying that. You'll find out soon, I promise. You're just in your first year of high school. Anything can happen still" he says. "If you say so" I mumble, plucking at my nails. "I do" Shinichiro says. Before I can say anything else, I hear motorcycles stop in front of the shop. Shinichiro sighs and stands up. "Come on" he says, offering me his hand. I take it standing up, and allow him to put his arm around my shoulders as we walk outside. As soon as we are he lights a cigarette. "Ah ojouchan you're here again today" a scary looking delinquent says as he also lights a cigarette. "Had nothing else to do" I say shrugging. "Don't listen to him too much Mizuki. He's an idiot" Shinichiro says winking playfully.

"You seem different today" Ran says, as I take out one of the braids from his hair. "Do I?" I ask as I braid his hair again. "A good different, or a bad different?" I ask. "Hmm haven't decided that yet. I am glad you finally stood up for yourself" Ran answers. "Hmm" I mumble, gesturing him that he needs to turn so I can redo his other braid. "Did something happen?" Ran asks as I'm redoing his braid. "Nothing in particular" I answer, patting his shoulder when I'm done. Ran turns around and looks at me amused. "You're not lying to me, are you?" He asks. "What reason would I have to lie to you, Haitani-kun?" I ask. Ran stands up, and even though I was sitting higher than Ran was, I still have to look up to look him in the eyes. "I can think of a few reasons" he says, and winks playfully. I chuckle. "You're being silly" I say. "Am I though?" Ran asks as he strokes my hair behind my ear. "What reasons would that be, Haitani-kun?" I ask amused. "What reasons indeed" Ran says, sitting down next to me. "Don't start playing coy now" I say, poking his cheek. "But it's so much fun" Ran says playfully. I can't help but laugh a little. "You're not laughing at me, are you?" Ran asks amused. "I'm not. But I do think you're being funny" I say. "Funny huh?" Ran asks. "I like your laugh" he then says softly. "You do?" I ask surprised. "Yeah. You don't smile or laugh a lot, so it's always a gift when you do" Ran says, looking up at the sky. "It's cute" he adds. Blushing I look away. "Thanks I guess" I mumble, slightly embarrassed. Ran sighs deeply as the school bell rings. "I'm sick of school" he says. "Just a couple of years more. We can do it" I say, standing up and grabbing my bag. "Don't you ever think of quitting?" Ran asks as he does the same. "Hmm not really. It's not that bad though" I say as we start walking back into the building. "You think so?" Ran groans. "I think I'd be worse off when I'd quit. That usually keeps me going" I say shrugging. "Worse off huh?" Ran asks softly as we walk into our classroom. "Don't you think?" I ask.
