Renzo's been acting strangely since Nico's visit the other day and even though I kind of know why, it's still unlike him to still be like this.

I understand his reasonings for wanting to protect his sister, I really do, but he just needs to realise that she is almost twenty years old. She can't be locked up in this house forever.

She'll only end up resenting him for holding her back in the long run.

He claims he doesn't care about the consequences or what it might do to Sofia, but I know he doesn't mean that. His heart is in the right place but he isn't thinking logically about this.

Having Leandro influencing him probably isn't helping the situation either.

Hopefully with time, he'll change his mind.

Hopefully.

With a small sigh, I roll over on my bed and reach to my nightstand, taking out my camera. Every now and then I find myself looking through old pictures and wishing I had treasured the moments a lot more now that they're just a memory.

I can barely even remember what life was like before I came here now. It's as if it was all just one big blur. The times I spent with my family, the morning coffees, the frustration of missing the subway and having to wait for the next one, the excitement of booking a new client.

It barely even feels real anymore.

A knock on my door steals me from my thoughts and I look over to see Cora appear. "Just collected a new batch for you." She says as she walks in with a few boxes of birth control in her hands.

"Oh," I say as I sit up and put my camera back in the drawer. "Thank you." She nods with a small smile before placing them in a small box on top of my dresser. "Uh, have you seen Renzo today?"

"He's gone to the city." She answers. "Left very early this morning."

That explains why I woke up to an empty bed.

"Oh," I mumble. "Do you know when he's returning?"

She shakes her head and gives me an apologetic smile. "No. Sorry." She replies. "Is there something you need?"

"No, thanks." I say quietly.

She excuses herself and leaves the room, closing the door behind her. I glance over at Simon and stroke his soft fur, listening to him purr beside me on the bed.

Taking the hair tie off my wrist, I put my hair up into a messy bun and get up, glancing at the clock to see it's almost four o'clock. I check my phone and my face falls a little when I see there's still no messages from Renzo.

I can't help but feel uneasy about what kind of business he's supposedly conducting in the city. Is he at his club? The new casino? Is he visiting someone?

There's too many possibilities and I don't like it.

Deciding I need a break from my thoughts before they drive me insane, I head to the one place I feel at peace in this house. The library. It's been a while since I've been in there and I think a little read might be just what I need right now.
