"You're going alone?" Gianni says as he approaches me.

"Uh, Nico just sent a text. I'm going to see what he wants and then I'll meet you." I tell him, lying through my teeth.

His eyes study me for a few seconds before he clears his throat. "You think it's safe to be out alone? You should have someone with you, boss."

"I'll be fine, Gianni." I tell him. "Go and see what you can find with the location Nico gave us."

He hesitates but eventually nods and does as I instruct. I get into the car and speed out of the driveway, following the instructions of the anonymous text message.

I can't take any risks by having my men follow me. The message was that I am to come alone, and regardless of whether or not it's a trap.. there's still a chance that I could get Lula back.

So I'll take those odds.

My phone begins to ring and I answer the call through the screen in the centre console. "Yeah?"

"Boss, Elio is back." Sal says and my eyes widen. "He just turned up at the main gates. He's been taken to hospital because Sebastian said his injuries were too severe to treat at the house."

"How bad is he hurt?" I ask.

"I don't know for sure but it looked bad." He answers.

"Was he alone?"

"Yes, boss." He replies hesitantly, clearly knowing I meant if Lula was with him.

"Keep me updated on him." I say before the call disconnects.

I released a long and deep fucking breath. Elio is back, but his condition could be critical. How did he even get back? Did they let him go? Did he escape? If it's the latter, why would he leave Lula?

Nothing makes sense.

I continue following the directions until I reach the location. An empty parking lot sits opposite the end of St James street and I can only assume that's where this meeting will take place.

Cutting the engine, I get out of the car and make sure my gun is tucked into the waistband of my slacks, my suit jacket pulled over it. As I cross the street, I notice a car parked towards the end of the parking lot, a figure leaning against the hood.

I approach them, my eyes narrowing when I realise who it is. "You came alone?" He acts surprised.

"I have nothing to lose." I mutter.

"You have everything to lose, Lorenzo."

I stand a few feet away from Skender, my hands clasped together in front of me. "Where is she?"

"Always straight to the point." He exhales. "Don't you want to know how your underboss is doing?"

I grit my teeth. "Where. Is. She?"

He snickers, shaking his head in amusement. "All this time.. all this time and you still couldn't get to me. Even when you clearly had the chance, you still stalled. Why?"
