Chapter Eight

I couldn't sleep. My mind was racing with thoughts of Lloyd. He had almost kissed me. 'What would've happened if Kai and Jay hadn't walked in?'

Lloyd stood up and Kai and Jay did too.

"Couldn't sleep either?" Jay asked.

"Not when we have to get Zane and Cole back," Kai said.

"Speaking of back, these new beds are the worst," Lloyd complained.

I sat up. "I know, right?"

Lloyd smiled at me. "Hi, y/n."

I smiled back.

Jay fake gagged. "You guys are so mushy and in love."

"From what I've heard about Nya, sounds like you're also in love," I told him.

Jay pouted. "Who told her?"

I stood up. "Doesn't matter."

Suddenly I heard a gong.

"Quick," Kai whispered. "Back in bed."

I jumped into the bed on my right. That's when I realized . . . this was Lloyd's bed.

Lloyd gave me a strange look, and I put my finger to his lips. "Sorry," I mouthed. "Wrong bed."

The gongs continued. Clouse walked in. "Good morning fighters. Oh, that's right, it's the middle of the night." Clouse smirked.

One of the people went to my bed, frowning when I wasn't there. 'Shit,' I thought. 'All because I forgot which bed was mine.'

"Sir," the man said. He had roller skates in hand. "There's one missing."

I laughed awkwardly. "Actually, I'm over here," I said.

The whole room stared at me and I laughed again.

"What the hell are you doing over there?" Clouse asked.

". . . Sleepwalking?" I said, but it came out as more of a question.

Clouse sighed. "Get back into your own bed."

"Gladly," I said. I ran back to my bed.

I heard someone whisper, "Did they have sex or something?"

Another whispered, "We would've heard it, right?"

The person standing at my bed suddenly attached shoes to my bare feet, but not just any shoes . . . roller skates.

Everyone began protesting. I smiled. I was super good at roller skating.

"Roller skates?!" Kai said worriedly. "I'm so bad at skating!" He tripped and landed right in front of Skylor.

She giggled and helped him up.

Lloyd helped me out of bed. "Let me guess . . ." he said. "Another one of Chen's impromptu battles?"

Jay laughed. "Roller skates! I love roller skates. " He did a couple tricks.

"Me too!" I yelled.

"Did I ever tell you that I won first place in a derby competition once?" Jay asked, doing a spin in the air and landing on one foot.

I shook my head.

Kai was talking to Lloyd when suddenly, Kai turned into Chamille.

"This is the next competition!" Clouse said. "Follow me!"

We followed Clouse and got to a roller rink. I furrowed my eyebrows. "But only two people fight. What are the rest of us going to do?"
