Klaus' pov :

I had slept heavy last night. I had woken up to the sound of two people chatting. My mind was still feeling heavy so I couldn't recognize those voices. As my eyes had opened, I was greeted by Kol and Hayley standing at my doorstep. I had been surprised but then Kol explained and I wasn't surprised anymore because well, it was Kol after all. But I had sensed Hayley's lingering gaze on me whilst Kol was around and even when he wasn't. I had heard quickened heartbeats and hitching breath. Technically, she should've been the one feeling weak but little did she know I had become weak at the sight of her watching me first thing in the morning as well. That had made me smile at her. She had become nervous and explained the cause behind her presence. I had reassured her which put her at ease and she had then left for breakfast.

After she left, I rolled out of bed and took a quick shower and dressed myself in a black Henley and light blue jeans. I closed the door behind me and stepped out of my room and made my way to the dining area. I found Hayley seated alone looking
at her phone. She noticed my presence and then looked up to look at me. "Hey, good morning". She said giving me one of her ever enchanting smiles. "Good morning, little wolf. How are you feeling today?". I asked back to which she replied, "A lot better. I still feel a tad weak but it's not too uncomfortable. The fever has gone down". I nodded. "Well, you must eat something. Let's see what we've got today". I said as I walked to the kitchen only to be greeted by nothing at all. I looked back at Hayley and she shrugged as she playfully said, "A+ and B+ blood only. In bags in the refrigerator. Want some?". I chuckled as I looked down and soon her voice came back to me in a soft laughter. "Let's just head to the Grill then". I proposed to which she agreed. "It's my 4th day in Mystic Falls and I've already been to the Grill like thrice. Yeah no shit". She said in a calm demeanor getting up from the chair. I walked back towards her and said, "Love, if this were some other huge city, I would take you somewhere else". Her smile dropped and she started, "Klaus I'm so sorry. I don't wanna sound ungrateful. I was just trying to joke around. Anything is fine, really. And besides it's not like I demand something-". I cut her off with my finger on her soft lips in a light feathery touch. She stared down at my finger on her lips for a moment before meeting my eyes. Her eyes sparkled as they met mine and she made no attempt to rid herself of my touch. "I know, little wolf. You need not overthink everything you do or say". I said and removed my finger from her lips as I took a step closer to her. Our breaths were almost fanning the other's face. I dared not move closer but cupped her face with one hand from where I stood. She leaned into my touch but I had heard her heartbeat quicken. She said nothing but stood still. "Love, I know you might think that I have ulterior motives behind whatever I'm doing for you but I need you to know that I'm not. For once in my incredibly long life am I doing something selfless and it provides me with immense pleasure that it's you who I'm doing it for". I truthfully said. In response, she nodded as she brought one of her hands to mine that had been cupping her face and stroked it adoringly. "And I've never had someone do the things you've done and are doing for me as well". She said smiling faintly at me. I gazed at her and stepped a little closer to her. To my relief, she didn't step back and tense up which meant I wasn't making her uncomfortable. Our bodies were almost touching and there was nothing more I wanted than to cease whatever gap there was and wrap my arms around her and plant kisses all over her face. But I really wanted to take things slow and not mess it up if there's a chance of anything at all happening. After all, she had been raped and tortured all within the span of last two days and taking an impulsive step won't help her case. I wanted to bond with her, be a good friend to her first and help her as much as I could. So I decided on just stroking her cheek with my thumb and planting a kiss on her forehead. I detached my lips from her forehead and said, "Then I would like to think that we've come across each other for a reason don't you think, little wolf?". She looked up at me to meet my eyes and slightly bit her lip, trying to fight a rather bigger smile that intended to sit at her lips. But her feeble attempt was in vain as her wide mouth stretched out to make for the most ever enchanting smile I had ever seen. "I do think so too, Klaus". She said, smiling still. "Hey, Nik, have you seen Rebek- Ooh am I interrupting something ? Please, don't let my presence hold your display of affection back. The show must go on". Kol interrupted the moment, thus breaking our physical contact and before I could glare at him or say anything at all, Hayley beat me to it. "With you watching, not a chance, darling". Hayley said as she looked at him, smirking. The girl I had met at the Ball the other night was beginning to bounce back and that made me extremely happy and proud. Proud of her and her strength. Kol chuckled at her response as a smirk sat on my own lips. "Anyways, what are you both upto?". Kol asked and Hayley replied, "Blood doesn't really make for a delicious and nutritious breakfast, you know. Oh that's right, you don't because you're dead". Kol looked at me with surprise written all over his face and said, "Nik, this isn't the girl you brought home last night. She has to have a hex put on her. Some witchy soul swapping stuff". Hayley and I simply chuckled at his remark. "Oh, dearest little brother, I hate to break it to you but this is very much her. You remember her showing up at our Ball with Tyler Lockwood, don't you? She might have humbled me once or twice that evening itself. And with you, it shouldn't be no herculean task either". I said. Realisation seemed to dawn upon his face. "Ah! I knew she was familiar. I just had forgotten where from. She was too busy swaying in your arms anyway honestly if I recall correctly. And Hayley, darling, I called you out for gawking at a naked Nik this morning as if he hadn't been gawking at you the very moment you entered the Ball. After that I didn't notice if he did though. Anyways, you're both equal and can have as much eye sex as you want". Kol finished speaking only to be scowled at by me and Hayley. Both of us had turned pink due to the little not so surprising revelation by Kol. "Okay okay, fiesty wolves. But you know I'm right. Anyways, I assume you're both headed to the Grill?". "Yes, we happen to be headed there. Anything else, Kol?". I enquired of him. "Nah. I was looking for Rebekah so we could go on a little breakfast spree. You could've served the purpose just fine as well but you seem to be busy". He said. "Rebekah is in New York. Visiting an old friend. She should be back by tomorrow or tonight". I informed but before Kol could respond, another voice spoke. "Well, Rebekah is back, Nik, as you can see. I got done in New York quicker than expected and figured that there was no good reason to delay my return so here I am". Rebekah made her way towards us and eyed Hayley intently. "Aren't you the chick from the Ball the previous night if my memory serves right?". Rebekah questioned Hayley. "Well at least one of you has a good memory". Hayley replied taking a harmlessly playful jab at Kol to which he rolled his eyes. "And to answer your question, yes I am". She said with her usual charming bravado. Rebekah nodded and looked at me and asked, "What is the she-wolf doing here? And I asked you to dance with her considering both of your dates for the night had ditched you, not to fuck her at our family home". Before I could explain, Hayley beat me to it again. "Firstly, the she-wolf has a name and it's Hayley and secondly, no. Klaus is not fucking me at your family home. He's helping me". "There really is a first time for everything, isn't it? Nik helping someone?". Rebekah asked in astonishment. "Babe, a word of advice. Run. This man doesn't help anyone without his sick and twisted reasons playing a role behind". She
said the last part very bitterly whilst looking at me. I clenched my jaw and yet again, Hayley took it on herself to answer. "You were obnoxiously quick to assume the worst of your brother, weren't you now? Yes, he sure has a repulsive reputation but I have nothing that can benefit him in any way. So as hard as it might be for you to believe, he's has helped me out selflessly and is continuing to do so. Now if you'll excuse us, we are headed out for breakfast". Hayley finished, looking Rebekah in the eye fearlessly. For the first time in forever, Rebekah Mikaelson felt intimidated by another woman from the looks of it. Rebekah moved out of our way a little. Hayley walked past, her shoulder colliding with Rebekah's but she didn't care to turn back. I took the cue and followed her out of the main door.

Kol's pov :

"Bitch". Rebekah muttered under her breath. I heard it. "You've been here and are certainly not oblivious with whatever is going on between Nik and the brat. Care to explain?". She asked me with her eyes narrowed. "Of course, sister. But there's a price to be paid". I said as I smirked. Bekah rolled her eyes and said, "Fine. Spill it". "I demand a breakfast spree. I'm bored of drinking from cold blood bags. I need something warmer and fresh. Care to join?". I put my condition forth. Bekah unsurprisingly rolled her eyes before agreeing.

Instead of vamp-speeding our way through, we decided to walk to a less crowded place that would eventually serve as our breakfast venue. We did it so that I could give Bekah a detailed account of Nik and Hayley and whatever happened to Hayley since the night after the Ball.

"Oh my God, Kol. That's beyond terrible. I so regret being rude to her. And Nik of course. I really regret my choice of words". Bekah expressed as I summed up everything that had happened. "It's okay, Bekah. You didn't know". She nodded. "But Kol, Hayley must really have an effect on Nik, don't you think?". Bekah said as she smiled. "That's for sure. You won't believe what I saw this morning. Hayley was actually watching a shirtless Nik sleep from a distance". She gasped and mouthed "no way!". "It is true. I would like to think this effect you're talking about goes both ways". "I hope so too. I really hope Nik finds something good with her". "So do I, sister. Now enough of Nik and Wolfie. Let's go get what we are out for". I said and we both vamped away in a blink.
