It didn’t take long for Nora to lose control over her own mind, and it wasn’t Wanda’s doing. She stopped walking and forced Stephen to stop with her.

“You good ?” he asked, holding her hand.

“No,” she said with a small chuckle. “I need a moment.”

“You didn’t have to come.”

“I did.” She looked in front of her and took a deep breath, trying to remember why she was doing it. Repairing the mistakes another Nora Keller made. It was crazy to even think about it. “Okay, let’s go.”

They kept walking towards the gigantic orchard where Wanda decided to move in. It looked peaceful. Nora found it immensely funny that someone who enslaved her had the right to peacefully live in a nice orchard while she became crazy and had to go to therapy three times a week.

“Tell me your ring feels it,” Stephen whispered.

Nora showed him her flaming hands and scoffed. “Oh yeah. Do you know what it is ?”

“Protections, most likely. With what happened…”

“Hm. She’s not the one who needs protection, Stephen.”

Nora stopped for a few seconds when her eyes landed on Wanda, casually taking care of her trees in the distance. It was probably a very bad idea to come here. She should’ve trusted whatever Stephen said about her. She was standing there, with the two people who scared her the most in the world, and she was expected to behave.

In a desperate attempt to put Westview behind her, Nora gave Stephen a slight nod. “Seems sane so far. Objectively speaking.”

When Wanda spotted them walking her way, she turned around and smiled. Nora wanted to scream and run away as far as she could. Wanda handed them both a branch that Nora silently refused. She could breathe, but she would never accept anything from this woman.

“Smells-”

“Sweet,” Wanda finished.

“I was gonna say ‘real’,” Stephen said.

Wanda smiled. “Oh, it’s all very real, thanks. I put the magic behind me.” Nora looked at her and let out a faint laugh. For some people, it was that easy. “I knew that sooner or later you’d show up,” Wanda said, looking at Nora. “That you’d want to discuss what happened at Westview. I made mistakes. People were hurt.”

“You enslaved a whole town, held me hostage, drove me insane,” Nora hissed. “There’s nothing to discuss.”

“But,” Stephen added, silently asking Nora to close her mouth, “you put things right in the end and that was never in doubt. We’re not here to talk about Westview.”

“Then what are you here for ?”

“We need your help.”

Wanda led them through the orchard. Apparently, she was willing to hear them out. It seemed like a good thing, but Nora still wasn’t feeling any better. All of her memories from Westview that she tried so hard to forget were surfacing, right when they should’ve been hidden deeper.

“Sane people apologize,” she whispered to Stephen.

“Give her a chance.” He looked at her and smiled. “You’re doing better than I thought.”

“Hm. I’m gonna need therapy when we get back.”

They kept following Wanda, until Stephen decided it was time to ask her to help. Both because they didn’t have much time to protect America, and because no one knew when Nora would lose control and burn everything around her.
