The Sixth Paladin

Chapter 42

Just a reminder in case you didn't read the note in the other chapter,since Keith is going to be gone a lot during the next few seasons I'm going to be skipping around episodes and writing only ones I think are important. I'll put a summary though don't worry!

Some time has passed since Pidge and I found Matt. We brought him back to the castle,where he basically fell in love with Allura much to Lance's dismay. After a while,Matt joined the freedom fighters,but stuck close so he could provide any help he could. Also,Zarkon came back and declared Lotor a criminal. They seemed to be fighting for power. After that we decided we needed to expand the coalition,so, we performed spectacular shows to wow people to join. It was pretty fun,until Coran thought it would be a good idea to get a brain worm to help him with ideas. While it did help at first,it made him go a little crazy at the end. So now, we're gathered in the main room,with Kolivan and Keith on the big screen,discussing our next move. It was nice to see Keith's face again,even if it was on a screen.

"Entire Galra fleets have been mobilized. Zarkon seems to be on the lookout for Lotor."Kolivan says.

"It's only a matter of time before he gets the empire back in order. We need to take advantage of this moment." Shiro says. Allura turns to him with a confused look.

"What are you getting at,Shiro?" 

"Now is the time to assemble to coalition Voltron had been building. With intelligence gathered by the Blades and coalition observers,combined with Pidge's Galra tracking software,we now have a detailed map of the Galra empire." Shiro pulls up the map. "I've identified an intermittent line of coalition planets that runs through the territory. If you look closely,there's only one Galra occupied planet left in that line."

"Naxzela." Allura said.

"Exactly. If we capture Naxzela and solidify that line, we can cut off all the Galra troops behind it from central command and use our position to defeat them."

"Wow! We could take back a third of the Galra empire in one fell swoop." Pidge exclaims.

"Do we have a plan?" Hunk asks. We all turn back to Shiro.

"We attack several different regions at once. First,we'll have to cut off communications between the region and Galra central command by striking the satellite relay station orbiting Vantax Five."

"Pidge and I can handle that." Hunk says. Shiro nods and continues.

"The Blades have informed us of two Galra defense systems coming online called Zaiforge canons. Now,these canons can strike any target within our combat theater. The first,in high orbit around the planet Teq, will be attacked by coalition air forces lead by Matt and Captain Olia. Kolivan will lead a Marmoran strike team against the second canon, located on the surface of Senfama,which in vulnerable to a covert ground attack. We intend to take control of the cannons and use Zarkon's own firepower against him. Once the coalition forces and Blades neutralize the targets,Glara forces will be weakened allowing us to take the remaining Galra occupied planets in the area. While our forces are taking control of the planets Naxzela will already be under attack."

"By whom?" Allura asks.

"Voltron." Shiro answers, Allura smiles at that. Lance suddenly pops up behind Pidge and I,putting his arms on our shoulders.

"Aw yeah! Team Voltron's gonna drop on Naxzela,form Hunk's giant laser cannon be all like Pow! Pow! Pow! Easy-peasy." He smiles,I let out a small chuckle.

"Unfortunately,not that easy." Shiro speaks up again. "Naxzela will be tough. It's heavily fortified with Galra. Our attack must be swift enough to neutralize the Galra forces before they have time to contact Galra headquarters. If they call for reinforcements, we'll be caught in a fight on two fronts."

"If this works,the Voltron coalition will possess a third of the Galra empire. It will be a massive victory." Kolivan says.

"And it will inspire a new wave of rebellions." Allura adds.

"There's no time to waste."

We all go to many different planets,visiting old friends and allies,to let them know the time has come. Afterwords, we gather back in the main room with some of the rebel fighters,waiting for Allura to give her speech.

"Alright princess,it's time to start the broadcast." Coran tells her.

"Have we secured the communications?" She asks.

"Yes,Matt and I used the rebels transponder encryption." Pidge says,leaning against Breezer. I poke its moving ears.

"Always help to have a pair of tech genius siblings around." Coran says and begins the broadcast. After her speech we head to our lions. As I pull on my armor,I notice my necklace is glowing. I softly smile,and bring the necklace up to my lips,knowing Keith's will soon glow.

Pidge and Hunk successfully take out the command center,giving us an eight hour time frame before it comes back online. The Blades have also taken their cannon,and help the rebels who are having trouble with taking the other cannon. Voltron flies to Naxzela,we take down a cruiser and land in front of a facility. We turn the head and three Galran workers run away in fear. We make Voltron stand and look at the mass of ships.

"Alright paladins,we've only got one shot to take Naxzela,so let's make it count." Shiro says. We use the lasers to take ships and cut down towers.

"Incoming cruiser,three o'clock!" Lance calls out. We move out of the way just in time to avoid being shot. We go to take off,but an explosion makes us stumble.

"What was that?" Allura asks.

"I didn't see any--" I was cut off by another explosion. We attempt to land but we keep being shot by something,making us stumble all over the place.

"What's hitting us?" Shiro asks.

"We're in a minefield. Somehow the bombs where cloaked." Pidge answers.

"Shield. Shield!" Hunk yells. We put it up to black a shot.

"My systems are able to detect the mines,but there's just too many to safely maneuver through them."

"Not to mention,with the cruisers covering all possible exits."

"We have no way out!" Pidge and I finish together. 

"What a tick.Perhaps I could freeze the mines." Allura speaks up.

"Then we could fly out of here before they go off." Lance says.

"Alright,sounds like a plan. Freeze them Allura!" Shiro orders. We then separate the lions and Allura freezes all the mines. 

"Alright,lets move. Form Voltron!"

"Great work team. Let's secure Naxzela." Shiro says as we fly with the sword out.

"Quiznak,the communications system is back online,Galra distress signals are flooding through." Coran suddenly says. 

"That's alright. We've just about secured Naxzela."

A druid approaches Haggar,who is sitting on a symbol on the floor.

"Naxzela is under attack. Voltron almost has it."

Haggar looks up.

"Good."

eeeee I don't really like how this tunred out but oh well.

Also when I was rewatching this episode to write this,you know the part where Lotor twists his shoulders to escape the cuffs? I forgot about that part and I cringed so hard bro.
